The drunk uncle theory.
You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there

Can you trust a chatbot’s answers? And is there any way to clean up the AI slop overwhelming the internet?
In part two of our series on AI and digital security, we dive into the murky world of LLMs and information 🔽

🤯 The MEP Aura Salla, a former Meta lobbyist, will be leading the Digital Omnibus.
The Digital Omnibus already closely mirrors Big Tech lobby demands.
Now a former Meta lobbyist will be in charge of the largest roll-back of digital rights in the EU’s history 😳

The Brazilian DPA states that synthetic data created by AI systems is considered personal data if it relates to identifiable individuals. Generating such content, especially when it involves biometric information, constitutes processing of sensitive personal data under the LGPD.

The EU's digital omnibus is deregulation dressed up as innovation and weakens also rights and protections of workers

📃 noyb has compiled a 71-page report on the Digital Omnibus proposal. In it, we discuss relevant changes to the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. We also discuss the impact on data subjects, authorities and controllers.

Behind the rhetoric of “competitiveness,” the Digital Omnibus embeds deregulatory changes that weaken GDPR, narrow ePrivacy, fragment protections, and tilt the ecosystem further toward powerful actors, writes Itxaso Domínguez de Olazábal.

from twitter account @ellewasamistake: gotta respect the longevity of microsoft word. nothing about it works and it's still the standard. want to move an image? go to hell. edit a pdf? edit your expectations. ignore a spelling mistake? how about suck my dick. that'll be 150$
Unironically a great example of how capitalism is trash
So... we're excited to launch: Moderator Mayhem (which we've spent the last few months building, in partnership with Engine). A browser-based mobile content moderation simulator game: https://moderatormayhem.engine.is/
Just noting: we made this game browser playable on purpose. It's not in an app store. It's not meant to be in an app store. Some of us still believe in the browser.

Small-logo for the Unchaind movement; four circular nodes have four independent horizontal lines radiating from them in parallel.
So how do we feel about using BlueSky to spitball early ideas?
It feels like we're ready for a post-blockchain movement, so I've been prototyping this: https://www.unchaind.org.
If you're also ready for the coin-free world, would love your feedback/edits! (Repo is open source on GitHub as well)
Is there any "branding" yet around what LLMs have done to web application development?
I'm less interested in the "AI changes everything!" rhetoric, and more in the "cacheing has moved from x to y; delegated auth is harder because z; scaling and load balancing needs new patterns a, b and c".
😂
Post deletes being complete happening soon! Thanks @jay.bsky.team!
NOTE regardless of network, scraping happens and can't really be stopped. For years a bot reposted my every tweet. Please be careful. BlueSky is a playground - not a different universe - even if we rejoice in momentary reprieve.
it’s important for y’all to realize that this app is wild right now because all of you are posters. you’re probably not meant to meet each other in the wild without a cushioning biome of lurkers around

Paging @anouk.bsky.social …
there’s already other servers out there bc this is open source code, they just don’t federate with ours yet. we’re getting close to a dev sandbox environment to test/debug in, but the social piece of federation (this server talking to everyone) we plan to roll out with some form of reputation system
