Primary libraries pledge includes converted cloakrooms and corridors Treasury has committed to ensuring that every primary school has a library by 2029, but these facilities could include former β€˜storage spaces’, Tes can reveal

In light of the Govt’s pledge to provide a library for every primary, Caroline Roche, Chair of CILIP School Libraries Group argues there’s a danger of a β€œmissed opportunity” if the focus is more on physical space than staffing.

Why every scientist needs a librarian Librarians can be key research partners who help to scour the literature, manage data and make science open.

... hired a librarian for his research group to help organize citations and support literature searches. The collaboration was hugely helpful. So helpful, in fact, that his colleagues started asking to β€˜borrow’ the information specialist for their own projects.

A date for the diary: I'm joining @cilip.bsky.social MIdlands in person on March 5th. I'll be chairing a Panel, inviting people to highlight 1 key opportunity they are tackling - and how? Also also asking participants to consider how they can help? Where are the opportunities for collective action?

What I find so weird about the data centre panic is the assumption that technology won’t change again to make these needs obsolete or at least different. It’s like Victorian transport planners trying to work out where all the horses will be stabled in the year 2026.
