This is an embarrassment.
This is an embarrassment.
Saw someone call Marie Gluesenkamp a Stomp Clap Fascist and gonna start my day on that high note
Trump's SOTU speech reveals the strategy: using election lies to justify federal interference in the midterms. Local election officials, states, courts and others need to be empowered to stand up to these attacks and voters need information to help navigate around obstacles laid to suppress votes.
It's not an aside. Decades ago, I was able to get a cheap studio and live alone on slightly more than minimum wage. Lots of reasons why it might not be financially prudent or not viable for some folks but wasn't impossible in the 80s, 90s or even early 2000s.
yes, the wheels of justice are slow. agonizingly, excruciatingly slow. and oftentimes they miss or go off the tracks entirely. in fact most of the time. but occasionally, very infrequently, that big wheel of justice delivers theoretical remuneration for a handful of vested business interests
The concentration camps will not only be for immigrants, documented or otherwise. They already aren't.
They won't only be for brown and Black people.
The targets will keep expanding. It will not end.
The only way it will is if we stop it. Both in and out of the system. There is no other way.
Screenshot of a CNN segment shared by Acyn. A split-screen shows commentator Lydia Moynihan on the left and Kevin O’Leary on the right during a heated exchange. The chyron reads, “Obama: Dems need to avoid scolding and ‘virtue-signaling.’” The post quotes O’Leary referencing China and concentration camps, and McGowan responding about West Virginia.
I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

Someone was abducted at 10 AM by ICE on Central Ave. Their coworker says they’ve lived here for over 20 years, are documented, and have 3 kids who were born here.
Don’t be fooled by headlines when they’ve been lying to us the whole time. We still need you out patrolling until every agent is gone.
it really can't be said enough that this is a person who has dined with the president of the united states
Almost tricked my neighbor into thinking it was Monday when I woke up from a nap and thought it was Monday.
Friends from Minneapolis reporting to me that things are at the point where folks are being hidden in other people's houses and we are in the "again" part of "never again" which the "never" was supposed to preclude
The SAVE act — another GOP effort to convert election lies into policy — would disenfranchise millions of voters. Congress is likely to vote on it this week. Sherrilyn’s article explains the urgency.
And here’s more context from the Bipartisan Policy Center: bipartisanpolicy.org/article/five...
It bears repeating that Tom Homan is a fucking psycho and Greg Bovino's exile means functionally nothing when it comes to what's happening on the ground in Minnesota.
That critique of the government extracting resources from PR. The power poles.
Perhaps the most sophisticated strategy is to capture the attention and outrage, but shift the frame to encourage voting plans, early voting, and fighting back (via voting) against illegal federal interference in democracy.
Also, love the comments here about folks not being intimidated and even more motivated to vote. That’s also a good message. Especially if it comes with social support … going to the polls with a friend or group.
Another always-good recommendation is to encourage people who are concerned to vote early and/or by mail (if those options are available) to reduce both real and perceived risk.
Bannon (and his buddies) are using an informational strategy called reflexive control that intentionally exploits the reaction of his adversaries (on the left) to inflict damage on their own side. Don't become an unwitting agent in their information operation.
Third, journalists, non-profits, social media influencers, and everyday people need to be VERY discerning and careful about not amplifying unsubstantiated rumors about ICE or other law enforcement at or near the polls, because false rumors (even if well-meaning) WILL suppress the vote.
Second, the legal election observers (that already part of the process) need to be trained to also document illegal intimidation near the polls, & there needs to be a mechanism for individuals and communities who are disenfranchised by any of these activities to RAPIDLY connect to legal assistance.
First, local and state govts need to do everything in their power to ensure that people can vote safely, without fear of intimidation. Simultaneously (to the extent that it's true) they need to proactively communicate to voters that they will be safe & protected while exercising their right to vote.
This rhetoric puts Democrats (and anyone who cares about democracy) in a bind. There is legitimate outrage, but by amplifying the threat, we assist in its purpose of intimidating voters. So, how do we address this attack on democracy?
Proponents of democracy will need to do several things at once:
Bannon knows that deploying ICE to the polls constitutes illegal voter intimidation. So why is he encouraging Trump to break the law? Because he also knows this threat will work to suppress votes even if federal agents never get anywhere near the polls. The fear of ICE is enough to keep people home.
What Bannon is proposing is illegal.
Brennan Center: “It is illegal to deploy federal troops or armed federal law enforcement to any polling place. In fact, it is a federal crime for anyone in the U.S. military to interfere in elections in any way.”
www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...
ICE at the polls! Bannon is basically yelling “fire” in a crowded theater here. His objective is to cause chaos (and suppress votes on the left). And it’s already working.
This threat works on multiple levels and doesn’t have to be “real” to serve its purpose.
Let me explain & offer some advice.
Look up Proposition 13 (1978) but steel yourself. It's wild.
Tonight at 8:30 PM our constituent Ricky was pepper sprayed by ICE on 18th & Polk. 2 agents parked their car, got out and approached observers, started pepper spraying Ricky on public property, and then drove away and left.
Nothing is changing on the ground in Minnesota. ICE must be abolished.
The fundamental premise that police need to be reminded that people are humans is a problem.
Damn.
