The Western Cape High Court has made an order in the DA and EFFs VAT case: VAT hike is suspended. The fiscal framework is set aside. Order was made this afternoon (Sunday) by agreement between the parties, after a meeting with the judges.

Interesting statistic from the LPC: as at July last year, out of a total 33110 attorneys in South Africa, 16,697 were black and 15,853 were white (560 “race not specified”) - white attorneys still disproportionately over represented given our population demographics, no?
Plus, does AfriForum not itself go to court fairly often under Equality Act - the most race-based law of all the “race-based laws”?
Very confused by noise about “race-based laws”. Legislation to promote the achievement of equality is expressly provided for by the constitution. If you have a problem, mobilize for a constitutional amendment 🤷🏻♀️.

It’s no longer the JCC but a JCT now (judicial conduct tribunal). Legal arguments are still to be made and he may have a legal defence. But he has proffered no alternative version on the facts.
