More than 16 million Americans are at risk of losing their health care because Republicans in Congress are rushing to pass a bill that would cut federal funding for Medicaid and weaken the Affordable Care Act.

But “we’re broke”, right? We can’t afford health care, housing, education, etc right?
A budget is a moral document. 🇺🇸
Jason Delgado (Florida Capitol reporter for Spectrum News 13) on X: "Quick look at what inside a detainment tent looks like here at Alligator Alcatraz." What is shown in the picture is a long tent structure, about 50 feet wide. There is a corridor running down the middle. On each side are three rows of bunk beds. The bunk beds are sectioned off into cells which are constructed out of chain link fence, with chain link on the ceiling as well, making each cell a literal cage. It looks to me like each cell contains 9 bunk beds, so has capacity for 18 people each.
Literal cages. Not even metaphorical ones. Literal ones.
Ossoff: "If we allow Affordable Care Act benefits to expire, as this bill would, more than a million Georgians will pay more for health insurance next year. A family of 4 in Clayton County making $65k a year - that's a $2,600 increase...the AJC reports 300k Georgians would lose insurance altogether"
Every major health system in Louisiana is warning Speaker Mike Johnson and the rest of the state's congressional delegation that the Senate GOP's Medicaid cuts "would be historic in their devastation."

As a criminal defense attorney, the vast majority of my cases were NOT immigrants.
So let's stop pretending immigrants are the problem when there's a 34-count convicted felon sitting in the White House.
The hypocrisy is outrageous.

Last night I wrote about Abrego Garcia’s case. Today, SCOTUS confirmed it’s true. Even though their stay is just temporary, he remains in cruel & unusual conditions in a foreign prison with no recourse. It could happen to any of us. joycevance.substack.com/p/the-week-a...
Carney: The system of global trade anchored on the United States.. is over. Our old relationship of steadily deepening integration with the United States is over. The 80 year period when the United States embraced the mantle of economic leadership… is over.
I needed to hear this. Maybe you do too.

Man, I miss her.
Already @cnbc.com is failing the test
After getting some rest, I am in awe of everyone who continues to lift their voice and speak out. This is a moment for our country, and we must make a choice about the America we want to be.
Congratulations to Judge Susan Crawford on her victory, and to the people of Wisconsin for electing a judge who believes in the rule of law and protecting our freedoms.
I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.
Cory Booker concludes his 25 hour speech by calling on Americans to heed the words of the late John Lewis:
"Go out and cause some good trouble. Necessary trouble. To redeem the soul of our nation... Madam President, I yield the floor."
Breaking: Cory Booker has officially delivered the longest Senate floor speech in US history, surpassing Strom Thurmond’s filibuster against the Civil Rights Act.
Cory Booker has held the Senate floor for 17 hours and 21 minutes.
The record of 24 hours and 18 minutes is held by segregationist Strom Thurmond, who spent that time protesting the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
I am pretty sure Booker would not mind changing that history.
Wisconsin! Judge Susan Crawford will work to protect your rights and freedoms. So get out there and vote today by 8pm. You can find your polling place at wisdems.org/vote.
If you have any questions about voting, call or text the Voter Assistance Hotline at 608-336-3232.

Senator Booker: What kind of man is in the white house that makes fun of the disabled, who lies so much that the fact checkers lose count, that minimizes the pain and the suffering
"The problem with a delayed response is that the more power leaders with authoritarian tendencies accumulate, the harder it is to mount an effective resistance. The opposition is thus more likely to succeed if it acts early..."

Casar: One of the most important things I learned is how so many of the most right-wing elected officials break things, do not want services to work, and then campaign on them being broken in order to gain political power.
"Attorney General Josh Kaul said on Friday he plans to take legal action against Elon Musk in response to a cash prize the billionaire is giving away related to Wisconsin's Supreme Court election."
Yes, when you back Russia, you are taking the side of Iran and North Korea.
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.
It's not just that "every accusation is a confession"; it's also that every accusation is a RATIONALIZATION. The lie that the other side is rigging elections rationalizes vote suppression. The lie that legitimate investigations are "weaponizing government" is the excuse to weaponize government.
The Situation Room should not be a group chat.
We keep asking what people should do — people need to speak up.
Congress needs to demand answers. The guy who used to fire people on television needs to do that again and fire Pete Hegseth.
New in PN: All the laws flouted during SignalGate
"There’s no excuse they can come up with that will be believable, bc the truth is obvious — they recklessly defied numerous laws by discussing war plans in a Signal group. And once they got caught, they made things even worse by incessantly lying."
