A deep dark forest from fairytales

1st image reminds me of a comment I got under one of my drawings, "Ogata's bush save me", or something like that. I often recall it in my head.

Btw. Shevchenko was basically a slave until he was 24. Then other artists and writers bought him out. Then he got arrested multiple times for political reasons. He mostly wrote about Ukraine and how it should be independent. Russian empire didn't like that.

"Katerina" by Taras Shevchenko low key reminds me of Ogata. This painting is an illusion to his own poem with the same name. Basically its about a girl who got pregnant from a soldier from Moscow and he left her.
