Haxe enthusiast here what I can say is it's worth looking into. See if it can fit into your use case. The Javascript target for Haxe, is very mature and although it's more work to use Javascript libraries in Haxe, you get a more robust language in return. Also most of the activity is in the discord

On Bjarne Stroustrup's (creator of c++) FAQ when answering what he thinks of metaprogramming, he said "Like all powerful techniques they are easily overused."
Maybe the overuse is causing you to run into a solid wall.
