In 2012, we started making social media videos with act.tv, and later became experts at livestreams - which took off with Covid in 2000.
To defeat George W. Bush, we created the first blog and the first political email newsletter, and also built websites to elect Democratic House candidates. We became the "resistance" to Bush and I organized the first protest against the Iraq War on 9/12/2002.
These victories inspired me to help elect pro-choice Democratic women nationwide. When the Internet became popular in 1995, I helped create Women Leaders Online and learned how to organize on the Internet. In 2000, I co-founded Democrats.com with David Lytel.
I started combining politics and tech in 1984, when a House candidate hired me to build him a voter file. He lost so I offered the file to the Westchester Coalition for Legal Abortion to elect pro-choice champions like Rep. Nita Lowey.
