Sarah Polley is directing The Bell Jar. Billie Eilish is in talks to play Esther.
BUT WHO WILL PLAY DOREEN????

Also. Sam Rockwell just belongs in weirdo cinema. I will watch him in anything, but you can't see this (or Gentleman Bronco, or Galaxy Questβ¦) and not think, "I want more of *that*."
One of my very favorite things about Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die is how openly it allows itself to reference and be inspired by other works of art without being direct homage or ham-fisted "Easter eggs."
What a very fun film. Favorite in a very long time.
Sorry for my wild, long tangent.
It's one of my very favorite memories and this graphic, in content and aesthetic, just reminded me of that.
The whole thing was inspiring: the women, their stories, the community collaboration and learning.
Anyhow. Share knowledge! Share stories!
Customers came in all month to learn more about the women in the window, and we researched and sourced books for them, some of which had never seen our shelves before (and we were an intentionally progressive and socially-conscious store).
Bessie Coleman was my primary inspiration, and before I knew it we were all collaborating, making a list of women most people didn't know about (but definitely should).
We all learned so much through that process and it translated to teaching others walking past.
Years ago, I had to create a WHM window display at the bookstore where I worked. Not at all skilled in design, I basically turned the window into a zine-inspired display of unsung pioneers.
This is worse than dystopian. This is dystopian played as wacky comedy.
This is Dr. Strangelove absent satire and robbed of nuance.
Not on FB, but I did think of all the whiners on Reddit.
A message from the Wonderwall
Well, fuck the fourth Geneva Convention, I guess.
Back in my bookselling days, a coworker recommended Make Your Space. I have purchased this title no fewer than five times. I always think I've fully absorbed it and pass it along, only to wish I could reference it again.
In fact, I'm here right now because I just purchased it. Again.

Not the Louligans playing Hall & Oates "Rich Girl" π
But look at these bbs! Happy opening day!
A cat, but you can't tell it's a cat because she's full of vinegar.
Happy #Caturday from this motion blob, I guess.
You don't have to agree with that. You are actively allowed to think it shouldn't be that way.
But it *is* that way, and we should all care about what the government thinks of our worth.
It matters who is allowed to serve in the military and what happens to them while they are there, because that is the place where the government decides how people are treated and what they are worth.
- employs and pays people
- protects employees at work
- provides health care
- provides treatment
- maintains sustenance
- provides housing
- enforces the law, rule, and order
- applies judicial punishment
- applies nonjudicial punishment
*Not a comprehensive list*
Look, I get that not everyone likes the military. They see stories like this and they think, "Good riddance."
But as long as there is a military, it is the only area of government that does *all* of the following for a cohort of the population:
Saying "under an anti-DEI push" is like claiming this is only happening by technicality instead of an ongoing obsession with oppressing to distract.
A person's gender identity does not impact their ability to serve or impair mission readiness.
This has been proven over and over again for decades.
I just heard Harrison Ford sing a bit of the Indiana Jones theme and it *healed me*. #Shrinking
Paul! I now have questions! Like, who plays Indiana Jones in the #Shrinking universe?
Petey still feels like a consolation gift Mom and Dad bought the kids because they were fighting so much.
I fully think I have a multi-species sitcom on my hands here.
The crows are undoubtedly familiar with me at this point, evidenced by their reaction to me. But I think that they think I'm Team Squirrel. π€£
I haven't devised a good way or place to feed them yet, though I really want to. I live in a multi-unit building, so I want to be mindful of my neighbors. We also have a gang of fairly aggressive squirrels in the alleyway, so I need to mitigate that. The crows are constantly mobbing the squirrels.

My crows just yell at me. Multiple times a day. In the morning while I'm still home. When they see me at work. Sometimes, they stop by my building again in the evening before they head back to the roost. They'll yell at me then, too.
I wish I knew what I did to them. I just want to be friends.
