Come see me on Saturday at Aspen Library in Vernon Hills, where I'll be presenting on writing kidlit, along with Tina P. Schwartz, who'll be talking about query letters!
Hope to see you there!
Oh my goodness! Possum is adorable! And thanks so much for ordering TSoOG! Sorry not sorry for the long library hold. ๐
So glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
This looks adorable!!
So very true!
Just look at this amazing cover! So excited for this!!
Cover of Troubling Tonsils shows a marmot with his mouth open wide. Book is on a colorful bookcase next to a sinister-looking chipmunk figurine.
Image shows a bald-headed man pointing toward a brown-haired woman holding a copy of Troubling Tonsils.
And here's Aaron's new book - and Aaron and I at the event!
Image of a scrapbook page from a baby book. Page has the title "Before I Was Born" and shows singing, dancing monsters. An arrow with the word "Me" points to the blue monster and an arrow with "Aaron" points to the brown monster. The text on the page indicates that the author of the post was eight months pregnant in the picture.
Last weekend I attended a launch event for Aaron Reynolds' newest book, TROUBLING TONSILS. It prompted me to dig up a page from my daughter's baby book from when I knew Aaron in another life!
The best sort of pain. ๐
A collage of book covers on a dark blue background. To the left on an illustrated post-it note are the words: Celebrate Pride Month. Below the post-it note is the logo for MacKids School & Library. There are 8 books covers. The titles from left to right on top are: Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa; Ollie in Between by Jess Callans; And They Were Roommates by Page Powars; Right Beside You by Tucker Shaw The titles from left to right on bottom are: Love, Misha by Askel Aden; Randy Rainbow and the Marvelously Magical Pink Glasses by Randy Rainbow, illustrated by Jaimie MacGibbon; The Flicker by H.E. Edgmon; Flamboyants: The Queer Harlem Renaissance I Wish I'd Known by George M. Johnson, illustrated by Charly Palmer
This Pride Month, we're recommending FLAMBOYANTS by @iamgmjohnson.bsky.social & Charly Palmer! From the New York Timesโbestselling author of All Boys Arenโt Blue comes an empowering set of essays about Black and Queer icons from the Harlem Renaissance. bit.ly/3H3O7aI
So glad you enjoyed The Song of Orphanโs Garden! I havenโt read Song of Freedom yet, but now youโve convinced me I definitely need to. I love Shari Greenโs MG verse novels!
Would you correct people in the moment if they say this wrong? I'm always too timid to!
Terminology Tip:
People often see my book and call it a "prose novel" (sometimes even after I specifically say it's a novel-in-verse).
"Prose" is just a fancy way of describing writing in normal paragraph form.
If it's not a graphic novel, verse, or another hybrid form, it's written in prose.
Oh no! I loved Perfection!!
Right? I'd be like, get rid of them? You obviously must mean, how can I make them want to stay forever and ever and ever!
Baby foxes living in my yard would be a literal dream come true.
Someone on Nextdoor complaining about baby foxes in their yard, and I'm like:
Nooooooo, send them to meeeeee. ๐ฅน
Going to try to start posting here every day as a little experiment. Feeling a little lost in the social media world right now (as many people are).
Here's a video of my dog frantically trying to get dry after his bath. (Note the growling - he NEEDS every last drop of that water GONE!)
I'm very excited for this one!
I just saw the PW announcement and had to come over here to congratulate you!!!!! This is so exciting! ๐๐๐๐
