We Do Not Care Club

Exmo Edition

We do not care that you can show your shoulders now. You’re still letting a man dictate your underwear choices.

We do not care that you think the church is being forthright about their history now. Read the footnotes.

He was shocked to see so many and see the quotes from the leaders.

It’s crazy to me to think I used to think like that, that I had the β€œwhole truth” and I had β€œtrue happiness.” I had anything but that.

Explaining the Mormon church to nevermos always makes it sound worse.

I was explaining to my bf that Mormons will never think I’m happy that I’m out of the church because they believe that only Mormons have true happiness. He was doubtful, so I showed him the hundreds of GC talks. (1/0)

I found out on Saturday that a man I knew went on a mission to Tonga and sexually abused young boys, one as young as 8. He didn’t stop there, he returned after his mission, got a job at a school, and continued to SA these boys after grooming and manipulating them with gifts.

So proud of your mom

Exmos, in your experience, is passive aggressiveness a part of Mormon culture?

I’ve met two different exmormon’s recently that said their reason for leaving the church was because they had daughters and couldn’t imagine them growing up in the church.

I’m so proud of them for doing what’s best for their daughters.

Ah the changes made when you leave the church

They do the switch around some point after that, usually when covenants are made

The extra stuff they put on during the session, right after Adam left the Garden of Eden. Since they were now naked and stuff.

I remember it was initiatory but I could be mistaken

Yes! I agree with that. I do think it has to do with the value that people hold that causes them to leave. The little exmos that go to other religions seem to just accept what those religions say about Mormonism, rather that question what those religions claim is true as well.

Love that quote.

Yes, I would generalize it to that argument.

Well that makes me want to read the book now. Sounds fascinating.

Here’s my problem with a principle of faith I see people try use in arguments. If something doesn’t make sense, people will use faith to bridge the inconsistency with reality. Like a cop out.

05.06.2025 16:36 πŸ‘ 8 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

I’ve delved into some Catholic apologetics because I found them to be fascinating. They also use this tactic, saying that the reason for the inconsistencies in the New Testamemt is bc people’s faulty memories.

So to them, why should we trust people’s faulty memories to base our salvation on?

05.06.2025 16:33 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I would agree, but I also wonder if it’s a bias I have towards them because I am more familiar with Mormons and the varieties of them.

Also, I know the structure of the Mormon church very well, but the evangelical church seems to be a chaotic mess.

05.06.2025 16:30 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t know a lot of evangelicals that have left their faith. However, the ones I have met and shared their story seem to share commonalities with me leaving my faith.

When I’ve shared this w/them, they seem to dislike that, like it’s not a good thing even in leaving to be involved in Mormonism.

A popular Mormon apologetic to Joseph Smith having five different versions of the First Vision is that people don’t always remember things right.

If that’s their apologetic, then why should we trust the faulty memory of a 14 year old that the first vision happened at all?

An excellent example of how prayers don’t work.

One thing that these new garment changes prove is that Mormon women have never loved the old garment style, even when they insisted to me that they did.
