A 1944 map by geologist Harold Fisk charts a 40-mile stretch of the Mississippi River from Friars Point to Gunnison, Mississippi. Fisk used aerial photos and maps to estimate the past and then-present channels. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon 'absolutely not' considering standing down
The Prime Minister told Newstalk ZB all of his ministers were telling him they back him.
"The only thing I am considering is the future of our children & grandchildren." #nzpol And let’s be clear, that’s only his children & grandchildren. He’s made the lives of 10s of 1000s of children & grandchildren infinitely worse.
Luxon believes he has skills.

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

TVNZ board chair rang senior minister to discuss negative coverage
Justice minister won't reveal exactly what the public broadcaster's board chair said, while police minister doubles down on concerns about bias.
Right-wing commentators were *obsessed* with what they fancied was the former Labour govt's control of the media. Yet now we have what looks like direct political interference with reporting that ministers didn't like. Far out. newsroom.co.nz/2026/03/04/t...

99.4% of disabled learners now attend local mainstream schools. Back in Andrew's day they were shunted off to special schools and excluded. Funding for this has not kept up with need. On top of that, families are facing far worse material deprivation, drug use stress etc than 30+ years ago.

NZ Herald, Audrey Young: "Christopher Luxon's Clare Curran moment - can he recover?"
I'm sorry, I can't believe NZME journalists are STILL using Labour MP Clare Curran as a synonym for fumbling to answer questions.
Do you know what she did? She used a personal Gmail account for Ministerial use in 2018.
Know who did that more recently? Current MP and media darling Erica Stanford.

Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isn’t living in a bubble. I don’t need to know what’s going on at X. I won’t be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.

Screenshot of a social media post by a verified account named David Seymour reading, “Our dinner for Persian freedom fighters was well timed. Let freedom reign this time.” Below the text is a photo of a dining table set with plates, glasses, and a vase of flowers beside large glass doors. Outside the doors hang several green-white-red flags with lion-and-sun emblems. A folded cloth sits on a countertop in the foreground.
Let's not forget that Seymour called New Zealand's first Iranian born member of parliament, a woman whose parents fled the regime as dissidents, a "menace to freedom" resulting in her needing extra security as threats increased
He directed contributed to her being hounded out of public life

Perhaps. Altho I do think faith is a bit more complex than that. For those who are part of a faith belief/practice it can certainly seem so. Those who hold a faith speak to meaning, purpose, community, connection, and of course to spiritual experiences.

Tesco walked away from talks to take on supermarket duopoly, documents show
Aldi and Lidl also declined to engage, leaving the supermarket duopoly intact.
So Willis' RFI to sound out potential competition in the supermarket industry was as much of a flop as the much touted Investment Summit
NOBODY bothered to even meet with her or participate in the RFI
Tesco, Aldi (who operate across the ditch) and Lidl all said no🤣🤣

National party policy for the 'squeezed middle' with some surprises
On the morning of 30 August 2023, the National Party (National) released its tax policy for the upcoming general election, titled ‘National’s Back Pocket Boost’. The policy contains a number of changes to the New Zealand tax system, including changes to income tax rate thresholds, relaxation of the tax rules for residential property investment and two curious new taxes targeting non-residents.

National Party released most of its policies at the end of August/September 2023 - i.e weeks before the election

Had a church leader here in NZ say this to me back in 2012; he genuinely believed that allowing the destruction of the earth would hasten the second coming (the return of Jesus in Glory). Evangelical Christianity is a destructive malignant curse upon the earth.
