UK parliamentarians back Swiss Peace Initiative on Artsakh
U.K. Members of Parliament Jim Shannon & Lord Alton of Liverpool issued a joint statement on behalf of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on International Freedom of Religion or Belief, endorsing the Swiss Peace Initiative on Artsakh
According to Avanesov, the Mayraberd complex included monuments commemorating the Great Patriotic War (World War II), the Artsakh War, and a khachkar (traditional Armenian cross-stone) honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide and the anti-Armenian pogroms in Sumgait.
Avanesov stated that Azerbaijani vandals damaged the Mayraberd Memorial Complex in the town of Askeran, as well as a nearby tank monument dedicated to the Artsakh Liberation War, located on the left side of the road leading from Mayraberd.
