I never thought I'd have a male favourite character in GOT, let alone a Targaryen!

Iβm just convinced that George R.R. Martin loves killing off all the honourable characters as quickly as possible, so weβre left watching the corrupt ones run the show for the rest of the series. #AKnightoftheSevenKingdoms
If I am waking up at 5 am for the Canada US hockey gold medal game on Sunday, we better win it.
(we = π¨π¦)
I have a hockey theory based on very limited knowledge. When a team comes back from behind like Canada did today (down 2β0) and ties it by the third period (2β2), theyβre more likely to score again and win 3β2.
They do this often for exercise headlines too: "Sitting is the new smoking." No it is not. I am a PhD student and I sometimes sit 10 h a day, especially when working on my dissertation.
I don't think we need such ridiculous headlines to encourage a more active lifestyle.
They did this with eggs in the past; now they're doing it with UPFs. Sensational headlines overshadow scientific nuance and erode trust in nutritional science.
Ultra-processed foods are mostly* harmful (for sure); they promote excessive energy intake, obesity, and increased risk of chronic disease.
However, this category also includes ONS for malnourished patients and many fortified foods targeted at vegans.
Foods should not be compared to cigarettes.
You should call a spade a spade, and a child rapist a child rapist. If it makes you uncomfortable, you should really ask yourself why.

One of the biggest misconceptions is this: βNow that there are powerful drugs or obesity surgery, there is no need for a diet.β
Yet, whether treatment involves medication or obesity surgery, diet remains a fundamental component of obesity care.
A new BMJ meta-analysis of 37 studies highlights the importance of diet in obesity management. After discontinuation of medication, the risk of weight regain increases, particularly when treatment is not supported by behavioural changes.

You might say, βThe new guide recommends more protein, so what?β But when I look at these two examples, the one on the left gives a much clearer message about what and how much to eat.

Also, statistically insignificant does not mean clinically insignificant.
The joy I get from mother-child nutrition > everything else.Wait a second, I love MNT in chronic diseases too. I think I love this profession.
I KNOW nobody is going to ask me about this particular study in the exam, BUT I find it fascinating, so Iβm sharing it anyway:
Baboons fed 60% of their voluntary intake had a significant reduction in milk production. In contrast, those fed 80% of their usual intake maintained milk production.

Only ~10% of fetal growth happens in the first half of pregnancy, so thereβs no need to increase calorie intake, particularly in the first trimester.
βThe more weight a pregnant woman gains, the better she has been taken care of.β
Cardiovascular diseases are the #1 cause of death, fibre intake is inadequate nationwide, and youβre literally saying, βLet them eat steaks.β
It reminds me of βLet them eat cakeβ: dietary advice thatβs disconnected from the countryβs actual nutritional problems.
By saying βeat real foodβ youβre labeling enteral and parenteral nutrition formulas, which are critical when oral intake is insufficient, as βfakeβ. Thatβs why this is poor nutrition advice.
