Sounds great, thanks Pete. I adore the chiming βWhatever Possessed Youβ. With a bit more promo behind it, it could easily have been a hit in the wake of China Crisis, Wah and Lotus Eaters and that uniquely Liverpool take on baroque pop.
Can I say Iβm not enjoying this? Oh, I just did.
Evidently, despite being among the 20 richest football clubs in Europe, Tottenham Hotspur choose to buy the studs for their playersβ boots from the local flea market. #coys
Is it the same track listing as βDiamonds and Emeraldsβ? I know the sound quality is probably much better.
The only Madonna single I ever bought at the time. What a banger.
That is GREAT.
I watched βBlur At Wembleyβ on tv last night. Really made me wish Iβd gone now.
On a related note, after 32 years Iβve finally realised the lyric (singular) of βLot 105β. It was completely different to what Iβve been singing in my head all these years. You really donβt want to know.
Is that so? Ah. Yeah, I'm afraid the days of student grants, the Enterprise Allowance Scheme and cheap London rents enabling post-punk are as much history now as Britain's first ever teens forming skiffle bands at the 2 I's instead of doing national service.
It's "Parklife" filtered through Thomas Dolby and Falco. I like it, but may not have this opinion forever. Its "two fingers to Brexit" vibe tips it over the edge into 'please please let it win' territory though.
I do love a good use of a HGTG reference.
ooh, a nice easy one :)
Their best hit by a country mile.
Haha, the post above this on my feed was @ricardoautobahn.co.uk giving a big thumbs up to the Eurosong single, which was the first time Iβd heard it. Itβs Thomas Dolby meets Parklife meets Euronutter Pop and I like it (I may not have this opinion forever).
I never thought it would happen /

Iβve been banging on about the new #Ladytron material all year. This shimmering post-Balearic track could be the best one yet. Just a fortnight til the album is out. youtu.be/BT3XbAFY71I?...
All we need now is Son to turn up in a Chelsea shirt on 17 May to back-heel a late goal to finally open the trap door.

I adore this record, itβs one of the few I recall clearly from when I was 7 or so. I know some people sneer at it for being third-hand early Roxy but I think itβs fabulous on its own merits.
Also, the Inspirals on the Saturday at Reading that year was probably my favourite ever headlining set at a festival. A summer of optimism after a lousy few years, the charts in great form all year, and (for me personally) the first time I'd ever flat-shared in London. Good times.
Got my tickets to see Pacifica's first UK tour in May. Fine Argentinian power-pop/new wave. Looking forward to it!

West Ham won and Forest drew at City. π«£ #COYS
I never liked Dire Straits much, being a New Pop-loving teenager repelled by the post-Live Aid dreariness. But listening to Love Over Gold now, it strikes me that it's not altogether that different - long, sonically precise tracks that use space itself as music - from the magnificence of Talk Talk.
Beat me to it! Though Four Lads Who Shook The Wirral is pretty good too.
Oh now I get it. Dubai is Golgafrinchan Ark B.

"even" Corbyn? His failure as Labour leader to support or influence the campaign to stay in the EU - mainly due to his ingrained SWP student-union 'ooh, imperialism' nonsense - was arguably the key factor in tipping Leave over the line and facilitating the past ten years of Brexit-flavoured shite.
Houmous actual?
In a better world βWhen In Heavenβ would have been a shimmeringly big hit.
IIRC they used the nom de plume Toilets Of Destruction for the odd warm-up gig at the Bull & Gate or such like.
Here are my Tottenham talking points on a team that can't defend, can't attack and lacks leadership within a club that seems unaware of the danger it's in. Apart from that though... football.london/tottenham-ho...
