Hell, I bought 3 extra copies of Ghost and 1 extra copy of HD2 for my friends to play, all on Steam, because I thought they were worth sharing. None of the friends I bought those copies for have PlayStations (As far as I'm aware), so that's 6 sales from 1 customer thanks to PC.

I understand the logic, but I doubt a limited number of first party exclusives will pull PC players from the PC ecosystem into their expensive walled garden.
I'm not a lost potential console sale. I'd never have played Ghost of Tsushima or Helldivers 2 without PC releases. I doubt I'm the only one.

A shame. Ghost of Tsushima was one of my favorite action games of the past decade, and I was looking forward to Yotei, but the last PlayStation I bought was a PS2.
Exclusives aren't going to convince me to buy into their walled garden, they just mean I won't play their games anymore.

Looks amazing, I’ve got a couple sweet potatoes I picked up from the grocery store a little while back sitting on my counter that I’ve been planning to bake so this is super timely! Gonna give this a try tomorrow.
Saved so I can find it again. Thanks for the tip!

A screenshot of a work-in-progress adventure game. The majority of the screen is taken up by a Save/Load GUI panel, utilizing the popular Adventure Game Studio save game module, “Another Savegames with Screenshots”, or ASS.
The panel is heavily stylized, in classic 1980s neon colors hot pink and sky blue. There is a list of saved games on the left of the panel, and a screenshot panel to the right, with buttons labeled OK, Delete, and Cancel below.
A screenshot of a work-in-progress adventure game. The background is only partially complete, depicting a very tacky farmhouse kitchen, with the trappings of classic 1970s/80s interior decoration.
The rear walls have a yellow floral pattern, there is a mint-green refrigerator, and a yellow/orange/brown chaotically tiled linoleum floor, bordering peach-beige plush carpet.
Angus, an anthropomorphic rooster man in denim coveralls and a blue ball cap is saying “‘70s linoleum bordering peach-beige plush carpet.”
There is also a man sitting at the kitchen table reading a newspaper. The man is visually designed to invoke the man in “American Gothic”. The tablecloth is a gregarious red/white plaid pattern.
Another #ScreenshotSaturday upon us.
Crit path scripting for chapter 1 done, I focused this week on core systems like save/load & getting more animation done, but the tablet and stylus were calling me, so also did some work on the 1st screen of chapter 2, Angus’s prologue. #Gamedev #AdventureGames

Well- myself and a few of my peers were laid off this week.
Riot’s severance is generous, and I’ve got the opportunity to apply internally to a few roles, which I’m taking advantage of- and I’ve gotten some kind leads on external roles as well. I’ve got a little time to conduct a search.

If you're a pixel artist, maybe block @freepixelart.bsky.social
They're an AI asset site and seems like they're following pixel artists/artists, wouldn't surprise me if they're scraping art off here.

Obscure may not be the right word, at least in my experience it isn't one of the frequently "talked-about" series.

"Unalive" "grape" "seggs" This has got to stop. Do people hear themselves? Its like talking to a particularly sensitive toddler. We can't remove serious words from our language just because we're afraid some fickle algorithm will show our posts to less people

A work-in-progress screenshot of a retro-style adventure game.
Beary, a large brown mutant bear-man wearing jorts stands to screen left, in a tacky hotel lobby. In center-screen, a red-headed hotel clerk looks dismayed, pointing at Beary and shouting (in machine-translated Brazilian Portuguese), "Caramba, é um urso!"
The scene is framed by a hanging television monitor, a luggage rack, and the fronds of a tropical plant to tighten visual focus of the image.
Hotel lobby finished and implemented in game.
With the completion of this room, crit path of Chapter 1, Beary's prologue story, is now fully playable, with the exception of a not-insignificant volume of rewrites and animation.

I swear a majority of us working in games grew up on point ‘n click adventures.
It’s been a near-universal experience in my games career where mentioning even obscure adventure games like Syberia will completely derail a meeting (complimentary), to say nothing of classics like Monkey Island.

Remember: When you playtest a game, never take players’ feedback/suggestions at face value. Figure out what emotion is underneath what they’re telling you, and then figure out what in the game is causing that emotion

I dunno, I reckon that’s a feature, not a bug, as far as cats are concerned. Normally humans stink of human, the least you can do is smell like canned chicken extract from the wrists down if you’re gonna be petting them.

A photograph of an iPad sitting on a gray couch cushion. The art program Procreate is active on screen, showing a work-in-progress piece of adventure game background art depicting a tacky hotel lobby.
There is a TV, luggage trolly, and plant in shadow in the foreground of the image, with a wood-paneled reception desk in the center of the screen. Some parts of the image show rough sketch blockout still.
#ScreenshotSaturday has technically already come and gone but still getting a little work done from the couch today, working on background art in Procreate
on my iPad.
I’m no great artist, and it takes a long time for each piece, but they’re hand-crafted and it’s fun to build the skill.

A warning sign on the side of a roadside metal box, presumably containing electrical equipment.
The “ER” in “DANGER” has worn away, leaving the warning sign reading “DANG” at the top.
The rest of the sign reads “KEEP AWAY DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING”, and in smaller text, “You can be badly hurt out killed”
The iconography on the sign depicts a child bending backwards, or possibly being blownaway from the box, with a little forked projectile near theor outstretched hand.
Dang.

This style of light doesn't really appear in animation anymore. You know it when you see it -- it's bright, hot and almost dangerous.
Our new issue explores the tricks behind it, and how one artist has revived the look for the digital age: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/dangerous-...
