Completely agree — lots of unsuccessful apps follow all the same ‘tips’ we share. That’s why it is important to show our 'failed' attempts too. Mobility can matter, but often clashes with ECRs’ lives.
No magic formula — motto should be: fingers crossed.

When I visited Brown University in 2024, I sat in on a seminar where students started by sharing “pre-critical reflections” on the week’s topic. Simple idea, but it really stuck with me — a way of connecting their own experiences to the theory in focus.
