Tonight I looked up at Orion and decided to identify the star at the tip of his arrow. I know this isn't the classic constellation. I like mine more. It was Jupiter. I expected a planet because it didn't twinkle the way stars do. - So I asked why planets don't twinkle and the internet consensus seemed to be that it was due to their distance. Even our best telescopes see stars as nothing but pin points of light. Some could swallow Jupiter's entire orbit and they're just so far away that they appear dim. So I looked up again, now interpreting brightness as proximity. The universe was 3D. And I was smaller than I'd ever been. #furryart #webcomics #autobio

So many people are about to fall into systems of abuse because an "online friend" has a space to escape to, because they don't have many people in their life openly accepting of them. I was in that position as a teen, I still see it around me as an adult.

Systems like these only work when those who have space and good intentions are the majority of volunteers, and it should be obvious in the world by now that human trafficking is systemic and bad actors co-opt any point in a chain they can.

Make sure you have multiple safe places and alternatives nearby after landing as soon as possible, and someone specifically checking up on you, the behaviors of your host and the living conditions of where you land.

Mass events like these also cause the easiest pipeline for human trafficking. One of those is bad actors volunteering space and manipulating you into thinking they have some sort of debt either financial or physical, and vouching can only go so far to ensure safety.
