My brother died unnecessarily in the care of a mother & baby institution in Cork, Ireland... seeking truth and accountability. An advocate for my mother & brother, the ones that matter. ✨Do no harm✨

A graveyard with rows of black crosses. There are also larger statues and stone crosses throughout.
1) It has come to my attention that David Quinn, writing in a Catholic publication and relying on the McAleese Report’s flawed findings, has made inaccurate claims regarding both the extent of abuse and the length of confinement experienced by women in the Magdalene Laundries.
Poster with details of Bessboro Vigil, Sunday 8th March at 1pm The text reads as follows: The Bessboro Mother & Baby 'home' Support Group are protesting against the development of 140 apartments at Bessborough which has been granted permission by Cork City Council Planning. If this development goes ahead, it will set a precedent and is likely to lead to further larger developments in the grounds of Bessborough getting planning permission also, which will change the landscape of the whole area. 923 children born in Bessboro died and the burial places of 859 of them are not recorded, but the majority are likely to be buried on the grounds The remaining undeveloped 60 acres of the Bessborough estate should be preserved as a National Site of Conscience to remember and honour all those that died, as well as the 18,706 women and children that were incarcerated here. They were forgotten for so long! In addition to being a place of remembrance, the 60 acre site would be an invaluable amenity for the local community. We will be appealing the planning decision.

the 31 women and the nearly 19,000 women & children that went through Bessboro, the majority separated through forced adoption. Shame on all of you that have perused this for years & will profit from my family’s & other families loss.😢 8/9
The original site of Bessboro was 210 acres, 150 has already been built on providing housing, a hospital, offices & a retail park ….. was it too much to ask that the last 60 acres surrounding the buildings be preserved as a park of remembrance for the 923 babies that died, 7/9
This is not a goodwill gester but a means to an end for the developers to get their project built. In all of this where does society, the politicians, those in power recognise what went on at Bessboro. There was incarceration, coercion, neglect, death, a life time of trauma. 6/9
the 3 others in the pipe line. The developers plans have included a remembrance park but this is on the front lawn opposite BessboroughHouse which is already preserved & cannot be built on as it is part of the landscape that is protected.

The grounds have never been fully examined. There are witnesses that say they saw burials in the area just outside the farmyard & up against the farmyard wall. The truth is the only way forward to really honour those that died. This development if it goes ahead will lead to 4/9
923 babies born in Bessboro died & out of the 859 that are missing 761 died on the premises….. WHERE ARE THEY?
The article in @irishexaminer quoted the developers as saying “While there is no evidence or suggestions of potential burials on the subject lands” is wrong. 3/9
acknowledged. Where’s the atonement? The #Bessboro mother&baby ‘home’ support group has campaigned for many years to preserve the remaining grounds firstly to investigate areas of concern & to honour the loss of so many babies (the majority dying before they were a year old) 2/9
This is not about housing but profit. This is not about the women & children that had so much taken from them. #Bessboro is a place that still holds so much trauma. The pain from not only losing a child but from the injustice of it never being properly. www.irishexaminer.com/property/dev... 1/9

1) Minister Norma Foley has finally published the 'Mother & Baby Institutions Payment Scheme' annual report for 2024. Just a few initial observations:
❓It's Feb 2026 - why the delay in publication?
📖 It's just 22 pages long, which means it's low on details. This is deeply troubling.
Done
C’mon lads—
This is not the view of the 740 members of the #Bessboro M&B ‘home’ Support Group. We have campaigned to stop any further developments on the remaining ground in honour of all those that died. This place being the last place my mother saw her baby alive. #Justice
Developers are trying again to put a foothold in developing on the grounds of #Bessboro. If one gets through the others will follow. ‘The Farm’ development will destroy our history. In this area witnesses saw burials take place. So much has already been lost
Here we go again…. Planning at #Bessborough. The farmyard area is a very sensitive area. Children worked there with their mothers. Children were buried in areas around it. 761 children died at the premises of which there are no known marked burials for them.
When you know an injustice was done …… you keep going! #JusticeForWilliam #Bessboro

ENOUGH!! Investigate Bessboro thoroughly & preserve what’s left of the grounds & consult with the people who actually have a missing/lost relative.

narrative the nuns would like you believe that they had a highly infectious skin condition that spread without mercy from baby to baby. They died from NEGLECT because the nuns covered up the infants condition & didn’t seek help. They didn’t quarantine the babies enabling
of her stay when her baby had died.
There were other babies just like William that don’t have a mother & sister alive to question all this. The State, the congregation have to date GOT AWAY WITH IT. In 1943 three out of four infants died in Bessboro not because of the
