Hundreds of births take place in prisons and jails every year, often with the baby immediately separated from the parent after birth.
Families belong together, not separated by prison bars.

Numerous trumpeter swans swim in the Yukon River at Swan Haven while three others come in to land. Background is snow covered mountains and forest.
The annual return of the swans and other migrating birds to the Yukon is one of the best signs that winter is finally coming to an end in the north.
