Trans people are under attack.
They are trying to make them going out in public illegal.
They are taking away their licenses.
If you cannot see that the moment you unpeople one demographic, you create a gray area for every other demographic, you're beyond hope.
Trans rights are human rights.
Great minds ...
The state of our union is, apparently, hockey.
the Olympics make me believe in a lot of things and I will miss them so. Iβm so glad we had them together, Bluesky.
Not a pangram, but ANTINOMIAN could have been played yesterday, and I will die, probably alone, on this hill.
Indeed. Though, of course, my little lady brain couldn't come up with a single fella to put on my list. Maybe Faulkner, but I'm not sure I actually made it through five. π€·ββοΈ
Five authors by whom I've read at least five books:
Jane Austen
Willa Cather
Toni Morrison
Elizabeth Strout
Edith Wharton

Absolutely love this video of two 50 y-o women attempting every Winter Olympic sport (and laughing throughout). This is the #Joy we need to cultivate in our lives.

Hmmm. Will the individuals who have this cosmetic procedure be allowed to compete in sports? Seems like an unfair advantage that could pose a threat to naturally tall people and the integrity of basketball. Surely Trump and RFK Jr. will outlaw this outrageous practice by the end of the week, right?
I donβt know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is
Spent today talking to just a few of the Black women who credit Jesse Jackson with their start in national politics. By inviting them in, he ensured they would help shape democracy for years to come. My latest on the coalition he built as part of his towering legacy: 19thnews.org/2026/02/jess...
We deserve leaders who speak the truth. Happy Presidentsβ Day.
Last word I got, and only after extensive, um, research.

Remember her name: Aliya Rahman
Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.
Itβs powerful. Itβs gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

imagine being so rotted that Bruce Springsteen writes a brand new song about how much you suck shit and announces it by saying βby the way Iβm so fucking mad that I banged this out in 24 hoursβ
how are you still up and walking around after being slammed like that
The other thing I will say about this interview: Anderson Cooper does a phenomenal job. He knows this is a huge yet, doesn't grandstand, just quietly asks simple questions and lets this woman tell her extraordinary story.

For Alex Pretti Because his last words were for a woman; because he asked, are you okay, are you okay; because he had learned to say it by standing each night beside the dying; because sometimes he held their hands; because he had lived only as long as the scent of childhood in an album; because he was a son; because he sang once; because of all of it, because of all of it, because of all of it, tell it, tell the story: a breath has left; a country is dying; and a man laid his face on its pavement today as though he were listening to a patient's heartβ even then, even at the endingβ to do what he was there to do: heal. βJoseph Fasano
for Alex Pretti
If I ever teach social movements again (lol/cry), we'll read this: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
DHS has shot 12 people during immigration enforcement operations since September:
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
Tell that to the J6 rioters.
"They say they're coming to save us from some evil? They're talking about our neighbors who take care of us ... Alex was murdered while he was helping. Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, & right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."

"Slavery was real"
Tiny sign at the base of a brick wall that, until yesterday, held panels about the people enslaved by George Washington.
