Major thanks to @melodyschreiber.com for interviewing me about what biology actually says about sex & gender

I've always wondered where I should bathe my coats!
A lovely depiction!
Fantastic example of cutting edge research probing basic questions of how the brain works. There is so much yet to learn as we gain the deep understanding of biological processes needed to keep informing medicine and technological innovation. news.westernu.ca/2025/10/sens...
Yes please to a Toronto event!
Whenever I am reminded of this I always think how we need more fundamental research on non-mammal brain structures to inform fields like neuromorphic computing and network efficiency.
The conference is next week!β¨

Zara has been a friend since grad school. I can barely grasp the loss to science, her loved ones, and her communities. Her absence will be felt dearly and her memory a treasure.
Zara and I overlapped in our PhDs at Carnegie Mellon. Even so early in her career she was a vocal advocate for open science and social justice. The thought that I can never hear her thoughts on our life events again is inconceivable and devastating. Much love to all who have been touched by her.
Two #comment articles with opposite perspectives about the role of #animals in #biomedical #research have been featured in the scientific journal #Nature, fueling a polarised discourse that can confuse and misinform the public and decision-makers. #NAM #SciencePolicy

And let's not forget the role of dogs as a lifesaving model from Anna and the first bypass shunts (exhibits.library.jhu.edu/exhibits/sho...) to contemporary imaging studies, large animal models have saved countless children and adults.

So cool! Craziest predation I have witnessed myself was a bald eagle catching an anhinga from a lake. There's always a bigger fish/bird.
