It's been a pleasure to serve on the board of the Bells Corners BIA over the last several years, moving from stabilization to strategic planning and growth. Suburban BIAs are growing across the city, which is exciting as we want to nurture multiple city centres and shopping districts.
I had the privilege of visiting the Woodward Yard in #CollegeWard yesterday to talk to staff about snow clearing, snow removal, and the challenges they've faced this year. I am so grateful to our dedicated teams who work around the clock keeping us safe.

Zwolle doing it right: a central busway flanked by traffic lanes and a separate cycleway, all buffered by trees that prevent overtaking. Buses speed through without getting stuck in traffic, people cycling have a safe route, and the narrower roadways reduce collisions. Amazing bit of street design.
In today’s least surprising local news, speed display signs aren’t enough to make our roads safer.
Toronto’s first new rapid transit line since 2002 opened today. There’s a time and place to find fault with Line 6 Finch West, but for me, today was all about celebrating with my father & my son, & continuing a family 1st day ride tradition dating back to 1954!

According to Amy Scheer the PWHL has been unable to come to a lease agreement for the new Lansdowne Arena in Ottawa with OSEG that would allow them to be profitable.
With the current planned seating capacity she estimated the league will lose $1 million a year in Ottawa.

Operational update from Public Works about snow clearing operations. (Tuesday, 12:30PM) - The sustained wind has made it difficult to efficiently restore the transportation network to the normal standards we maintain. We know the snowbanks are high, the roads are narrow, and some sidewalks are not clear, but rest assured, we are actively working on addressing the issues created by the blowing and drifting snow across the transportation network. - We also have been hard at work on the transitway, park and rides and bus stops where snow drifts have also been an issue. - Our biggest challenge—the wind! Once a plow or sidewalk machine has passed, in some areas of the city, it quickly looks like it hasn’t been there. There’s a lot to accomplish, and it is going to take some time, but crews will keep going until the transportation network has been restored. - With drifts this high, it takes larger equipment to come in and remove the snow before a sidewalk plow or grader can clear and open up the transportation network. This has slowed down operations; however, crews are doing their best under these extremely challenging conditions. - As a reminder, cleanup and snow removal will take several weeks to complete. Understanding and patience are key as we complete our work.

I don’t have the words today, but I’m going to try.
Rest in peace Simmer.
💔
absolutely gutted to hear about Simmer’s passing. He added great insight and a really fun sense of humour to the Sens community during some lean years. The beauty vibes will live on.
The Ottawa Senators were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Shawn Simpson, lionhearted member of the Sens media landscape and proud member of the Ottawa community.
Our hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as his fans whose lives he touched throughout his hockey and media career.
Travis Green begins his availability by offering his condolences to the friends and family of Shawn Simpson. Also offers condolences to the families of those affected by last night's plane crash in Washington.
Someone left an employee of the Month sign in Josh Norris’ stall today.
Lots of smiles and laugh in the #Sens locker room today.
He was a pillar of our community, making a tremendous impact both through his time in the media, as well as his courageous openness and mental health advocacy.
We extend our most heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and everyone who loved to listen to him talk sports.
RIP Simmer
Our show has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and offering of condolences for Shawn.
Brent, Yorkie & Eric appreciate the messages. To all his former colleagues and friends especially at TSN1200 we share in your sorrow. 💔
The Ottawa 67's, Ottawa REDBLACKS, and entire OSEG family are devastated by the news of Shawn Simpson's passing.
"Simmer" approached every day covering sports in Ottawa with unmatched passion, kindness, and his trademark wit.
I spoke to Daniel Alfredsson about his coaching journey.
He calls it a "a steep learning curve" but he's helping turn the #Sens into the type of team he used to captain.

I asked Jakob Chychrun about what went wrong in his time in Ottawa.
“I mean, I don't know. I didn't trade myself. So I don't know, I think a lot of people were talking about the fit.”

Congratulations to #Sens prospect, Donovan Sebrango, who's set to make his NHL debut tonight for his hometown team!
With three goals (13 points), 42 PIMs and a +3 in 28 AHL games...This is a well-deserved opportunity after a strong NHL camp and start to the season!
