We draw on three case studies: the introduction of the Treaty Principles Bill to Aotearoa's parliament; the act of resistance at by Indigenous-led activist group Te Waka Hourua at Te Papa Tongarewa (Aotearoa's national museum) to redact the English version of the Treaty of Waitangi);

We ask: who is the saboteur?; what is infrastructure?; and how does temporality affect our understandings of infrastructure and sabotage given the historical and ongoing imposition of material and immaterial economic, legal, political, and social infrastructures of colonial violence?

In this article, part of a Human Geography special issue on infrastructure sabotage as future-making, we step back to analyse these two terms as heuristics in settler-colonial contexts.

I am predicting, without expertise, that any government response will be to leave it to the market, so we'll pay through the nose while companies make extreme profits, and if public pressure gets too much, there will be a temporary cut on fuel taxes/RUCs.

According to Edwards, National internal polls take the Curia raw data, send it overseas where it's reworked based on stats-stuff, and it comes back a couple of points higher. Whether or not you think that is nonsense...

It used to be a requirement during war that ships rescue sailors when their ships were sunk. DΓΆnitz, one of the Nuremburg defendants, was charged with this and found guilty, but no sentence was applied as the defence pointed out that the American navy had also done this.

Also, 'anyone but the current lot' narratives often lead to neoliberal-lite governments of the 'left' which barely do anything that we need done. I think people are smart enough to say 'not those guys' and 'you need to be better' at the same time.

Name of Hawkeβs Bay extremist who plotted mass stabbing revealed
Ronndog Elliott Keefe, 21, has been publicly identified after suppression was lifted. He was jailed for more than five years for amassing child abuse material and planning a knife attack on a mosque or mall.
An interesting part of this article is police saying they get about 40 extremism tip offs a month, half of them white supremacy related
This man has a manifesto, a massive collection of violent images and videos, and planned a mass stabbing targeting Muslims

I don't understand them to relate to powers being available or not. I just think possible implies 'everything is possible' and doesn't narrow the window at all.

Terror attack in NZ 'possible' β why the language has changed
The country is warned it "should not be complacent" as the level of threat has been adjusted from "low" to "possible".
These new words for threat levels feel useless. The current threat level is 'possible' which matches with the previous level of 'low'. But possible covers all five previous threat levels: very low, low, medium, high, and extreme. They're all 'possible'.

Get screwed I think. It would be good to see the government set up a fund to subsidise solar panels on most houses and set a future date (like they did with insulation) that most rental properties have to have them by law.

I don't know who is writing that substack, but neither Trump nor MAGA appear in the Security Threat Environment 2025 (www.nzsis.govt.nz/assets/NZSIS...) that I can see. The United States only appears in the text in reference to its competition with China.

The cover of Science for the People vol. 27 no. 2: The Political Economy of Science
New from @courtneyaddison.bsky.social and I for SftP mag! The NZ govt's vandalism of research and science prefigures similar destruction in the US and is part of a broader effort in NZ to stifle political dissent.
The only way out is to build our power as researchers.
