Happy to hang out with my fellow bald bearded Asian game writer @pixelgrotto.bsky.social in London! I think people might have mistaken us for brothers at some point LOL.

Saw a copy of Hellbreakers in Orcs Nest and was tempted to buy it but I remembered my copy should be flying in to me anytime now!

Feeling emotional about the release of Hellbreakers. I've been an editor at Paizo for almost 3 years, but this is the first time I've *written* for us. It comes almost 7 years to the day that @scribemind.bsky.social's Uncaged Anthology Vol. 1 came out, marking my debut in TTRPGs.

What a journey!

Good to hang out today Jeremy!!! We should do this more. Happy to hear about your projects, and also happy to be your frequent coauthor across so many different works, too. Supermarket husbands fetch quest for hoisin sauce was probably the hidden highlight of the day hahahaha

Two guys with glasses and no hair holding up the Pathfinder: Season of Ghosts hardcover book

Finally met @bigprawn.bsky.social in the flesh after having worked on multiple tabletop projects together. We ate Taiwanese chicken and went to the shops to see books we’d worked on. These are the baldies that you are trusting to make your TTRPGs!

2025 was one massive period of learning experiences in a million different ways. That goes for both personal life and the hustle over at Three Sails Studios. Our little company went through so much this year, and we're gonna keep working hard to bring you more quality games as the years go on.

"after the war, if you as a Chinese got involved as a Nanyang Volunteer, in China you'll be seen as a Nationalist, a traitor, In Southeast Asia, you'll be seen as a Communist, as a bandit, by the colonialists, or the regimes that came after."

paraphrasing Q+A; some traumas of being SEAsian Chinese

When I research for Da Xia, I see some of the horrors they heard and witnessed, second-hand...

trying to discuss this can be hard, not just because of my presentist biases. But also as an Asian talking about Asian traumas in ttrpgs.. I've been shouted down, talked down to, threatened with violence.

I'm 45 (well turning 45 soon), and my parents were of the generation where they remembered families and friends being... Well.. dragged off to genocide grounds. My parents were reluctant for me to consume Japanese media or products as a kid (I was a weeb), because of their own generational traumas..

Da Xia is in many ways inspired by events and stories like these; Shuang Lin Monastery's full name is "Lian Shan Shuang Lin Shi", 莲山双林寺, or Lotus Hill Twin Grove Monastery... Hence, "Lotus Hill". And Venerable Pu Liang's Buddhist name, 普亮法师, has the word 亮,or "Light"; hence Light on the Lotus Hill.

Venerable Pu Liang was the abbot of Shuang Lin Monastery (双林寺), over in Singapore's Toa Payoh, a beautiful temple. He opened the grounds up for the Volunteers to train.

For his contributions against the Japanese invasions of China, he was arrested, executed..

Nanyang Volunteers

Nanyang Volunteers drove and repaired trucks along the Burma Road, a key pipeline for Allied materiel and personnel into China (cos Japanese forces controlled Chinese ports).

They needed a place to train, and that's where the Venerable Pu Liang comes in...

Working on Da Xia agIn, caught ast screening, "Light on the Lotus Hill", about Venerable Pu Liang who supported Nanyang Volunteers (SEAsian Chinese auxiliaries during Sino-Japanese war). He was executed by Japanese imperial forces occupying Singapore, during the Sook Ching (洗清) massacres of Chinese.

Movie you’ve rewatched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode no Star (Wars or Trek), LOTR, Marvel, Disney Animated, or Pixar. These things make me realize I am a serial rewatcher.

The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

That's my skeleknight taking 200 damage over 2 rounds and into a dirt nap, bouncing up and down between death and undeath (it's a L10 party), I have about 115 effective HP, so between recovery tricks, damage reduction, and HP laundering, I soaked up a lot that would have otherwise gone to team! Fun.

My work's wages: a box of Boney Bois from Age of Sigmar ahha. I used to collect and paint what we now call the Deathrattles, mostly for my own RPG sessions. For the Epic I played one of my favorites for such community events, a paladin/undying warlock whom I represent on the table with a Wight King!

Great time at Singapore Comic Con (SGCC); helped old friends at Gamersaurus Rex with sales, played a D&D Epic organised by @telehax.bsky.social and The Legitimate Business (the module was Enemy of My Enemy by @the-i-of-qing.bsky.social!), and visited @munkao.bsky.social and @ehronlime.bsky.social!
