@kimberlyadams.bsky.social fascinating MMS on deep sea - interesting that we hardly know the species let alone much else. I did a report on deep sea creatures when I was about 12 — amazing that we don’t know much more than we did in early 70s!

@steveinskeep.bsky.social re:your interview with the former chief usher—didn’t you watch The Residence? 😀
It’s always worth it -
@kimberlyadams.bsky.social re: the fat bear week show last week — I worked in Alaska from late ‘86-‘88. I received about $1000 from the permanent fund then. Soooo - I also only made 6.50/ hour and could live on it. Couldn’t do that today so it’s a huge drop in value
@npr.org good morning. Not usually on your podcast feed this early — just FYI - Two stories are running under the octopus story heading and you have the Venezuela attacks twice — same story under UK protests headline.
@t-mobile.bsky.social hey - you’re advertising in Husky stadium - how come I only have one bar?
@npr.org thanks for the great VE Day story from Bob Mondello
@npr.org I know things are hard there. But could you please make sure your NPR app feeds are updated?
@npr.org please stop making a story out of every utterance from the old man in the White House. Blah -blah “3rd term” - it’s like an old uncle rambling about winning the lottery someday
@kimberlyadams.bsky.social hi — you used the term “tv-ed them” today on MMS. As one who worked in TV news for many years (I did) — would love if you could define that better. Just so great TV journalism isn’t maligned
hooooray!!!! :)
@kimberlyadams.bsky.social per your smile today. Have you read Eager? www.goodreads.com/book/show/39...
@kairyssdal.bsky.social another option for quick hit news well done - the skimm
So so glad you had a home to return to. Was worried. No doubt your general neighborhood changed forever- but glad you’re ok
@petersagal.bsky.social this week “in the news” and Netflix script-ruining — I worked in TV news for years and when we did stories for the morning show we did the same. Knowing people were prepping for work, eating — not watching at all.
you and many friends in area are in my prayers - been listening and watching all day. And really prayers - not just the T&P of politics!!!! Hang in there - hope winds ease up soon
Honestly and sincerely prayers for you all
@kairyssdal.bsky.social and @kimberlyadams.bsky.social you'll like this: kottke.org/24/12/nasas-...
@kairyssdal.bsky.social so to your point and WaPo— do the banks not ask people questions out of their areas? I’m in seattle and think it would be great to have a Fed bank here. But just wondering
@npr.org the last time this guy was in the white house: "Sebastian Gorka and his hard-right views on Islam are set to head back to the White House" (from WaPo) - he played every interviewer, lied, talked over, never answered a question. Please don't let him on again.
watching @soundersfc.com and it fascinates that football (soccer) coaches' seats look like they're on a first-class airline flight. When did that start? Basketball - same folding chair as players. Softball/baseball - just the dugout (and oh...they have to dress like their players!).
I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.
Newspaper headlines
Hmmmm so perhaps they keep working. No recess. Are there enough Rs?
Larry the Downing Street cat chilling
I love the BBC’s election coverage. nothing to do until polls close so we just have Larry the cat footage
