If he was a BAD QA engineer, he would have closed this vulnerability without dev instructions. Which would mean the process wasn’t fully documented.
So do we actually know whose fault or why this persons desktop was accessible to the internet?
But dev, because they are dev, did not provide instructions on how to reverse the test process.
And this QA engineer, because he’s a GOOD QA engineer and follows instructions to the letter, followed dev instructions leaving this vulnerability open.
Someone in dev sent this guy instructions to test against a particular vulnerability.
This guy followed dev instructions and tested against the vulnerability on all those browsers you think are superfluous, but very normal for a QA engineer.
If we thread that needle it’s easy to understand how this probably happened.
This person… who is a victim of a crime here at this point, let’s make that clear…

i can't describe for you the weirdness of visiting one of the (relatively few) parts of the world that has a high background level of regard and gratitude for the U.S.A. It feels like stepping into a mirror universe.
Seeing the ruins and having them to myself was certainly neat.
But what still makes me emotional was hearing from real life revolutionaries about what they thought of me and my country. How they admired us, how the idea of a constitution inspired them.
I left more inspired by them.
Imagine getting to see one of the best preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world, and you’re the only one in the amphitheater.
