Congratulations Carolina!! Such a cool work!
Congratulations Carolina!! Such a cool work!
Check out our new work in ACS Synthetic Biology! We coupled biosensors with encapsulation to further enhance bacterial delivery to tumors
Cornell BME at Weill Hall in Ithaca
My department, Cornell BME, is hiring!
This tenure-track faculty position is a great opportunity to join a vibrant community that values research, teaching, and entrepreneurship.

So nice of you, Pablo! I'm so lucky to start this with you side by side! So many work to do together ahead
Thank you, Francis!
Iβm very grateful for the mentorship and support Iβve received over the years. I hope to build an equally exciting and supportive environment in our new group!
Iβll be starting a lab as an Assistant Professor at Cornell @cornellengineering.bsky.social in 2026!
Weβll combine synthetic biology and materials science to engineer microbes into living materials & therapies.
We're recruiting PhD students & postdocs - please get in touch!

This work shows how materials and microbes can cooperate to create a new class of autonomous drug depots.
Huge thanks to everyone in the Mooney Lab and collaborators at @wyssinstitute.bsky.social and @harvardseas.bsky.social who made this possible!
Encapsulated bacteria act as living sensors - detecting infection and releasing therapy on demand.
We used this system to functionalize prosthetic implants and autonomously treat infections in mice.
Living bacteria can make drugs in vivo but risk spreading.
Implantable materials deliver drugs locally but canβt sense or adapt.
We built a stiff, tough hydrogel that safely contains therapeutic bacteria for 6+ months and resists mechanical stress.
My postdoc work is now on bioRxiv!
We combined engineered bacteria and hydrogels to create implantable living materials that safely confine bacteria while letting them sense disease and release drugs from within.

The Francis Crick Institute PhD programme recruitment is now live and our lab is recruiting. If you are interested in studying the role of the extracellular matrix in tissue dynamics during development and cancer please apply β link below. Please share. www.crick.ac.uk/careers-stud...
We're hiring for 2 postdocs to work in our lab in London on the newly announced Wellcome Trust SynHG project. If you know people looking to work on big-scale ambitious science like this, please RT and share this with them. Apply by 7/20, interviews in Aug. imperial.ac.uk/jobs/search-...
First post on Bluesky! Excited to share that our review on living medicine delivery is now out in @natrevmater.bsky.social, written in collaboration with @whjung.bsky.social. We outline how synthetic biology and materials science can synergize to develop a new generation of living therapeutics
Can I also be part of the list? Thank you!
Hey Garrett, can you also help adding me to the list? Thanks!
Hi Santi, I'd love to be added to the list. Thank you so much!
Could you also add me as well? Thank you!
