"The problem with mental health is that it is FUCKING CRINGE" is something I resonated with. When I first started my mental health journey I had such a hard time doing anything to take care of myself bc it all felt like such bullshit & I felt so dumb doing any of it
Fuck this video is so good
When the evidence shows, over and over again, that the things you believe are wrong, there's really only two options - either you change what you believe, or you deny the existence of the evidence. And if you deny the evidence often enough, eventually you wind up not believing in evidence at all.
new vocal stim dropped
[to the tune of βI want to break freeβ] I want to eat beans
"you only ask this question because you're a woman" okay cool story pre-sem dude at the lunch table; now maybe answer the question
(also realizing I was also queer. Woops!)
I have a 100-pg comic scripted about this, lol (for me it wasn't a lightning strike, but a series of vignettes)
but I joined LJ, where I made friends with queer people and realized they were actually practicing more kindness (mutual aid, etc) than the future religious leaders I knew at college
a mallard duck stretching out on his hind legs so he's big and tall like a guy with no arms.
what did you just say? what. did. you. say.
in other news, my reading vision has successfully decayed enough that I need new glasses. pleased to report I'm leaning into the bigger cats-eye frames
(because I really like drawing my toon self in cats-eye glasses)
man, does anybody else just get exhausted when your eyes get dilated?
I know the drops are an anticholinergic but, come on nerves. it is just two drops of a short-acting local, we do not need the systemic fainting couch overreaction for this
Foxtrot creator Bill Amend, I was not familiar with your game
Chikorita Pokemon card: Pikachu is chasing him down a flight of stairs, sparkles and smiles showing they're both having a great time
The card I was inspired by: Chikorita hiding in the house plants. This one has sharper shadows and more plants (I simplified mine and it still took forever)
most pokemon cards: what if you met this wild creature in a forest
Chikorita cards: what if this dingus lived in your house
not bad

good things:
* the mojito breeze Bubly flavor pairs really good with a thai basil-heavy curry
* chikorita bujo painting might turn out ok
* Jason cleaned both the kitchen and bathroom today
* (trying to hold on to) time with friends last night
* baking brown butter choc chip cookies tonight
Otis the black cat looks moody among a frame of flowers
Sarah, how's the writing going?
Wellll I started taking pictures of my cat as if she was getting married, so, yeah. I mean, great.
This is an excellent rule for storytelling but also implies that Philip Pullman witnessed the death of God as a boy.
(part of what's in my control though is gonna be backing off the dose on the focus meds. at least for as long as nihilists & death cultists hold the nuclear codes)
I don't know what to do with this bucket of grief that's been overflowing since January. won't spiral out and OD on carnage videos like I did in fall 2023. but can't make cute art when all I see is streets flooded with burning oil
the black rain pictures of tehran are haunting me. what an evil thing to do to people who were already hurting for clean water
(feeling shock, shame and grief, not surprise or disbelief)
Thank you to all the people who are good at talking about random things for hours.

Gouache painting in my bullet journal for week of March 2: Emolga (a cute electric sugar glider Pokemon) has just taken off from a branch of an apple tree and is catching air, a big grin on her dumb face. (There's another flying Emolga silhouette hidden deep in the background, but it's hard to see.)
March in the bullet journal: "March" in brush marker with a mini-calendar with moon phases. On the bottom of the page is a gouache painting: Pawmot (a giant orange teddy bear Pokemon, electric/fighting type) flopped on its back in a clearing full of flowers, mostly tulips. It's a fish-eye view to squeeze in a whole forest in the distance. Pawmot's big electric paw is towards the viewer, giant with foreshortening The facing page has "one line a day" with days 1-31 going down the page, the weekends highlighted with brush marker stripes for readability.
doing pokemon scenes again for March, just to feel something
(these are both expansions of official card art scenes)
