Gojo and Geto knew, though. Geto disapproved, but since Megumi only fought bullies and couldn't be reasoned with, his way of keeping Megumi safe became taking him to the dojo. Gojo would just ask if he won, cackle, and tell him not to get himself killed. But he always silently paid the fines and made sure the school stayed off Megumi's back. Megumi realized as an adult it wasn't the most … morally correct thing to do, but neither was a society that actively victim-blamed and protected bullies with 'promising futures.' Gojo never had a problem using an unethical technicality to balance out an overt wrong. It was one of the few things Megumi respected about him. But things changed as they all grew up. Adults played dirty — brought pipes and knives or way too many dudes to take on one lanky seventeen-year-old with half-assed self defense techniques. Megumi was a smart kid, he thought. But it didn't take a genius to see when 'loss' becomes synonymous with 'funeral,' you fucking run. Except once, he wasn't fast enough.
