In fairness to the Mechanical Turk, there was a robot with a human operator. It wasn’t just a guy in a costume. The operator was inside a table with a chessboard on top. They even open the table to show there is “no human operator” as part of the grift. It was pretty convincing.

Listen, there’s a lot of crap in that show but I HIGHLY recommend AHS:Roanoke where the first half of the season is a documentary about a haunting (with reenactments) and the second half is the cast of the documentary going back to the haunted house and getting haunted for real. It’s awesome!
