Happy to share a new paper evaluating inter-rater reliability in evaluating growth disruption in deciduous teeth - through the hard work of Simone Lemmers and team. It was a pleasure to be a part of this! journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

π They are one of the beautiful sides of that cold weather. We had it too last week. Into the -40s with windchill. Serious ups and downs with temperatures this year.
Here, we call them Snowdogs. Sometimes, you get more than one layer of them (two on each side). Always on those really cold days with lots of ice crystals in the air.
Hi. Everyone! Nice to see all the new colleagues here. As you look for accounts to follow, be sure add to your list @bioanth.org π§ͺ
Was just discussing this with my grad students. In addition to the awareness of the barriers, the suggestions from this article on ways to remove those barriers at different levels are worth noting - including on the level of supervisors and colleagues. doi.org/10.1371/jour...

I'm also a passionate instructor, and love teaching students in hands-on ways. See doi.org/10.5744/bi.2... for most recent with @archaeo-b.bsky.social (pre-print here t.ly/V91X9).
I love to maximize the information we can get from teeth, and my hats include dental microanalysis, with focus on #stress, and life course study in relation to #DOHaD. This also leads to collaboration with #aDNA folks and on #proteomics (see doi.org/10.1016/j.ja... for most recent).
Hi everyone! I have been on Bluesky for a bit, but haven't been too active, and now it has rather exploded! Figured I should introduce myself a bit better. I'm a #bioarchaeologist, #dental_anthropologist, #bioanthropologist, #human_osteologist, #palaeodemography, #palaeopathologist
Thank you!
Great idea! Would you mind adding me as well, please?
A new Bluesky starter pack listing biological anthropologists. Let me know if you want to be added go.bsky.app/CnJLf95
A small VW golf hatchback filled to the roof with duffle bags of replicas for distribution in 2021 (during lockdown)
New Publication Alert!
@dentalbioarch.bsky.social & I sent replica skeletons home with #osteology students then tested them to evaluate skills they obtained remotely vs. in person (compared to experts)
Spoiler: home access to replicas supports student learning, but fragments & methods are still hard
