I do often miss it. I was born and raised in D.C. — born in N.E. on the Hill and schooled in N.W.. I’ve been living abroad for decades but I do still reflect very fondly on my life in D.C.
Yep. Olsson’s Books & Records in Georgetown, D.C. was possibly the most wonderful job I ever had.
Personally I’d say kill him, but “86” —which is slang for just get rid of or abandon something— will do just fine.
Maybe someday I’ll be able to figure out how to do that. I guess that makes me a Hopelessly Clueless Ludite artist 😂

Just busting out of being down and ill for the past several weeks. Now I finally got a chance to get to trying out a painting of these two.
I don’t know if it’ll behave the same just because it has the same name. Like you said, PY43 can be quite varied.
DS Indanthrone Blue PB60 & DS Burgundy Yellow Ochre PY43 produce a wide range of luminous and translucent semi neutrals. These range from neutral teals to deep yellow greys. I gotta say that I was really surprised at how transparent PY43 could get

The Lasur Ochre is from Schmincke.
DS has a PY42 pigment that is almost identical. It’s called Transparent Yellow Oxide.

Here is DS Indanthrone Blue PB60 with Sch Lasur Ochre PY42. Compared to the first chart, this tends to more fawnish hues with transparencies that lend well to glazing.

Inspired by the swatches of @annalarssonstudio.bsky.social, I’m going to try doing a series of Indanthrone Blue with various Yellow Ochres (both PY43 and PY42). This first one is DS Indanthrone Blue PB60 and DS Yellow Ochre PY43. I get a host of lively blueish to greenish greys.
