Science’s secret is that it is not subject to authority, because there are no authorities in science and to make discoveries scientists treat each other as intellectual peers.

What do authoritarian regimes do usually? Start putting pressure on the press, threatening to seek revenge , to avoid opposition and any provocative text or cartoon that would not fall in line. it seems to work quite well these days and it is sad to see the Washington poste caving as well …

The US has pardoned insurrectionists twice before – and both times, years of violent racism followed It’s not yet clear whether Trump’s pardons will herald a period of national harmony – as past presidents hoped for – or more incidents of violence, as actually resulted.

Trump is the third US president to pardon insurrectionists. Pardons by the previous two - Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Ulysses S. Grant in 1873 - were followed by years of violent racism and the rise of the KKK.

The French Senate shuts down the 🇫🇷 “organic” propaganda machine. That’s some good news.
It spreads lies claiming that “organic” products are GMO free.

What an evening! It was wonderful to be with so many colleagues and friends who contributed to sequence the wheat genome and believed in it when many thought it was impossible . One of the most transforming scientific and human adventure I was privileged to be part of. Thank you all !!!

Specificity, length, and luck: How genes are prioritized by rare and common variant association studies Standard genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and rare variant burden tests are essential tools for identifying trait-relevant genes. Although these methods are conceptually similar, we show by anal...

What do GWAS and rare variant burden tests discover, and why?

Do these studies find the most IMPORTANT genes? If not, how DO they rank genes?

Here we present a surprising result: these studies actually test for SPECIFICITY! A 🧵on what this means... (🧪🧬)
