For an independent psychologist who gets between $75-$150/therapy hour, but then has to spend 1-3 hours to collect from the insurance company, the practice of therapy is no longer a viable financial business —
Not highlighted in the article — but a rampant and systematic strategy by health insurers, is to deny payment to the few providers (therapists, etc) who are still willing to accept insurance.
