I recommend it! π
It's such a weird take on things, given that Britain's creative industries- design, film, music, online gaming and fine arts generate so much income for us.
You have my respect. I've never had much patience with drawing or painting buildings.(Though I have done so a few times)But earthworks - now you're talking! π
I used to teach Art up to International Baccalaureate level. Teaching students who would need to verbally justify their work to an external assessor was part of the job. They had to believe in what they were doing and be prepared to defend it. A tough lesson to teach and learn! But vital.
Art couldn't possibly exist if everyone liked the exact same thing. That is its strength and mystery. It's about accessing and expressing one's own emotions, which may or may not resonate with some else. Magic
Very true.
Thanks Allan. One can't be a lifelong artist without knowing that the criticism of playground bullies is to be ignored. (And inevitably made by someone who doesn't show their own face on line, so that they can hide...)
Aw thanks Fiona, but not to worry. It just made me laugh!! One can't be artist for a lifetime without very quickly learning who's criticism needs to be taken seriously. And it's definitely never the playground bully's! It's just what he seemed to imagine would upset me. He was mistaken.
Yesterday "random man" on Threads told me that I'm "not exactly Monet" but AM "a nasty old witch". Neither are the flex he thought. I don't aspire to be a long dead artist, I'm a living one. Witch? Yes, I do create a sort of magic, I paint. Some will like my work, others won't- fine and understood!
I've framed up a number of small paintings today, including this little beauty, Rothbury Bridge in the Snow. It's now available at Crown Studio Gallery or online here- crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com/products/rot...
Spring has sprung! It has in Crown Studio Gallery Rothbury at any rate- we've a fresh selection of paintings inspired by these seasonal changes. Perfect if you are looking to bring a little brightness and warmth into your home after the long wet winter months. It's bliss to have blue skies!
All four of the commissioned pieces created by @pottedhistory.bsky.social are now finished and packed for their journey to their final destination. As I'm a little bit in love with this pot, I'm sad to see it go to someone else, somewhere else. But I know it will be where it belongs.
Spring is in the air. But you definitely need a woolly jumper!
How about these? Available in the Gallery and online.

And remember that men can get breast cancer too. So if anything feels or looks a "bit off" get it checked.
And the second batch of smoke fired pots are now nicely toasted! I love the grooved ware vessel, with its ricrac decoration.
@pottedhistory.bsky.social having smoke-fired a very large commissioned pot, the whole property now smells deliciously of pine smoke.
Every year we dismember our real Christmas tree to use as fuel for smoke firings.
I puzzle as to where they would be accepted.... I'd suggest you need to clear up your own mess, the rest of the world doesn't deserve them either.
This small beauty has gone to its rightful home- to its new owner who LOVES it.
I'm going to miss this cheery little robin.

2026 is a big year for @pottedhistory.bsky.social and I.
We will have been living and trading back in Rothbury for 20 years.
We will have been married for 50 years
And I will be celebrating my 70th birthday.
Here's to another year of family, adventures, creativity and laughter.
Health insurance is now more expensive than the mortgage for many Americans.
This is the state of the union under Donald Trump and JD Vance.
Fascinating!
Today I've been making this, a replica of the Shakenoak Farm, Roman syrinx. πΊ Sound on. You may note (excuse the pun), that my skill with ceramic technology is not matched by my musical ability. #Archaeology You'll find many more wonders at potted-history.co.uk

Really? Gawd help us, reverting back to the 1950s... no thanks. I was there the first time round and it was toxic for women.

Every painting has a story, but this one is especially close to my heart. It speaks of friendship, love and hope, wrapped in a beautiful spring image.
