VU 'The Gift' is secret choogle
Blessed day. What a record. π
Q: How would you improve the music industry? A: Burn it to the ground and start again. I would fire everybody in every major record label, every streaming [platform], every major company in the industry. I would get rid of everybody at the top. Let's start again and make practices ethical for the artists making the music.

Love this.

Cosmic New Year BlΓΌus #guitar #improvisedmusic
2026 will be the year I finally write my epic novel based on the western expansion Dublin in the late 20th century. Working title: "Blanch Meridian".
RIP to the absolute unicorn that was Chris Rea. A mainstream pop behemoth whose main thing was being really good at slide guitar.
Quite literally. I quote it once a week, probably.

Of course!
Harry Dean Stanton. You get the David Lynch movies, but also Paris/Texas, Godfather II, Twin Peaks: The Return, and also Dig!
Hard agree. Browsing in a record stores, bookshop or charity shop is my idea of heaven. I have made so many amazing discoveries that way.
Get Back coincided with my first kid coming along and now Anthology lands same time as my second. Settling a fussy baby whilst mainlining Beatles content is now one of my main hobbies.
Robin Williams' daughter has some quality thoughts on AI slop
Sad news. An absolute giant. RIP.
Bluesky is undoubtedly less toxic a place than Twxitter, but I find the psychological effect of using either is much the same: a noxious depression and pessimism. I think this form of social media has outlived its usefulness.

Two hoots, a hello and a fuck all y'all.
Love this album.
Same, only it's a JG Ballard novel.
My full digital discog is available at a knockdown price this #BandcampFriday. If you like creeping autumnal folk with a a dash of White Album/Syd Barrett vibes, this IS for you.

Yeah, for sure. I think they/he genuinely captured lighting in a bottle with that early clutch of songs. The indelible melodies, the universality of the lyrics (without being cloying or sentimental) and the yin/yang contrast of melancholy and vitality. It'd be a tough trick to sustain that.
I think it probably speaks to the Gallaghers' doggedness and resilience. They were a combustible group who probably should have had a career trajectory like the Pistols or The Smiths (briefly burn bright and explode), but ploughed on. The same qualities prob account for their continued relevance.
A basically perfect technology
Guitar is the most transhumanist instrument because you get to press flesh to metal and combine their vibrations
