Alright, Pep. If you love him so much, why don't you marry him?
@briggysmalls
Arsenal fan, tech PR guy, and Twitter/X refugee. My employers have asked me to make it clear that they want *nothing* to do with any of the dull, tedious nonsense I make on here, as they are apparently “far too cool” for that sort of thing.
Alright, Pep. If you love him so much, why don't you marry him?
That refereeing performance was bizarre. Two bookings for Arsenal players for being fouled. Weird.
I don’t often say this, but Bukayo Saka has been disappointing tonight. Some loose touches, poor decision making, and every time he gets it out wide he telegraphs cutting in on his left to shoot. We all know what he’s trying to do - and if I know, you can bet Leverkusen do too.
[Stands up and applauds for 7 hours straight]
The whole thing wasn’t so totally, utterly, pant-wittingly hilarious, I think I’d feel quite sorry for Sp*rs.
Still, it is what it is.
This really puts it all into perspective, doesn’t it? I’m not going to pretend watching Arsenal is pretty at the moment, and it’s putting all of the supporters through the mill. But it does make you wonder why there is so little appetite to give the team any credit for what they have done so far.
Felt to me like the subs came at a good time. Brighton’s intensity had dropped after their first half effort and the game became slightly more stretched, giving our newly-introduced technical players a yard or two extra to play. Would love to know if that was planned or not.
The problem with this sentiment is that for years Arsenal concentrated on playing beautiful, flowing football, and were criticised for lacking organisation and physicality, and being “soft”. These people really need to pick a lane.
Hincapie and Gabriel real standouts for Arsenal tonight. Rice and Timber not far behind. Really struggled to keep the ball in the first half, and were penned in at times. Havertz, Calafiori, and, to a lesser extent, Trossard all gave us different ways to relieve the pressure. Great job from Arteta.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Mikel Arteta any more than I already do…
Can I just say that I have ALWAYS loved Nottingham Forest. Never let anyone tell you any different.
That is an absolutely massive couple of results. Not just for the table - but for the belief it will give the players and fans. Not a pretty watch, but in the 2nd half in particular it felt like Arsenal were in control. Even the home fans and their bizarre manager seemed to lose faith.
As for the Brighton manager and his histrionics on the sidelines…it feels like new records are being set for the most number of petulant, whiny moans to a 4th official during a Premier League 1st half. Wondering if Opta have any data to support this?
Feels like the team’s efforts to win the ball high up in the press are being hindered somewhat by the referee’s willingness to give Brighton a free kick any time an Arsenal player so much as farts.
Haha. Sky just replayed the commentary from Neto’s sending off, including Neville’s commentary, saying: “Oh no!”. Also, why was Neville the only one in the stadium who didn’t see Joao Pedro was offside at the end there?!?
The irony is that when he first came in, I could forgive him the grating voice, because his analysis was genuinely insightful. Now it’s just hot takes and biased opinion.
Massive win for Arsenal, but that performance - after a week of rest, let’s not forget - was really alarming. Given the strength of Arsenal’s position in the league, it may sound strange to say it, but the warning signs are all there that we don’t have what it takes to win this title.
Huge commiserations to Gary Neville, who, over the course of 90 mins, lobbied for a Chelsea penalty, accused several Arsenal players of diving, and even questioning whether a perfectly legal Arsenal goal should have stood. Poor man.
Gary Neville is so desperate for Chelsea to win this, and, as a Manchester United fan and former player, I have absolutely no idea why.
Happy St. Totteringham’s Day to all who celebrate!!
Thanks, and same to you. It wouldn’t be any fun if it was easy, would it?
Finally got some tickets - but only after the ones I wanted were gone. Bloody hell that was hard work...
Pretty sure the number of people ahead of me just inexplicably increased!!!
And now I've just gone from literally *selecting my seats* to being kicked out of the system, and to the back of the queue.
What is going on?!!???
After 20 minutes sitting in the queue for Carabao Cup final tickets. I get to the top, and sign in to my account...
FFS Arsenal.
I really hope today sets the tone for the rest of the season for Gyokeres. His early drive and shot showed he was up for it, both goals were emphatically taken, and he ran himself selflessly into the ground all afternoon.
That could be a big win. Not just for the team, but for the likes of Eze and Gyokeres, who must have felt on the periphery at times this season. Now need to ensure full focus on every game - no more slips, no more false dawns. It’s the only way it can happen.
Declan Rice was the one in the huddle after Eze’s goal telling his teammates to keep their heads, keep the ball, and not concede quickly again. Unfortunately, in his haste to not kick it long and gift it back to the opposition, he overplayed and gave away a goal.
Sp*rs took nearly 6 minutes to take that goal kick after the Gyokeres shot. No yellow card?!? Game’s gone.
At least he got you an assist!
