Pen drawing of a view looking across narrow terraced fields. Separated by low walls, the fields are either bright green and yellow with fresh spring vegetation or dark grey volcanic soils. A small white building stands amongst the fields.
Pen drawing of a view looking across narrow terraced fields. Separated by low walls, the fields are either bright green and yellow with fresh spring vegetation or the dark grey of the bare volcanic soils. A small white building stands amongst the fields. In this version the flap at the bottom of the drawing is folded up to reveal a foreground of rocks and plants.

Pen drawing of a salt production site. Showing a grid like arrangement of water filled lagoons at different stages of evaporation.
Photo across a salt works showing mounds and pyramids of salt in small compartments built from dark larva.
A fun bit of doodling, looks like the map of a city on a bay, actually salt works at La Hoya, Lanzarote. Largely drawn from aerial imagery cos my own photos were too oblique.

A close up of a label printed on a wool weave fabric. The fabric is a dark blue check. The label says it was made by Herbert Roberts Ltd in Keighley, and has the 'Keirobe' finish.
Determined to make a garment from this fab vintage fabric, but it needs a wash - wish me luck!

A flock of starlings against a cloudless sky at dusk. This photo captures a starling murmuration when the birds have formed a large shape like a spoon. In some areas the starlings are so close they form a black mass, in others they are more thinly spaced.
Just getting back into posting after a bit of a break. Happy New Year!

There's a cracking account of a meteor landing near Holkham in 1741. Pub in Royal Society Phil Trans in 1744. I really hoped to see evidence of the impact on lidar, but sadly not.

Photo of a painting in a gallery. A moonlit scene of Whitby harbour. The sky is an unusual bluey green colour. The abbey is silhoutted in the background. An expanse of water reflects the moonlight in the middle ground. The water is framed by the rigging of ships. The painting has a broad gilt surround and picture frame.
I saw 'Whitby' in the Ferens a few weeks ago, same amazing luminosity. Every tiny detail is exquisite, like the moonlight on the fishermen.

A pen drawing copy of a 1960s or 70s book jacket. Shows serving dishes, plates and tankards on a table. The background is bright red and yellow. The vessels are left white with loose black outlines and details.
I saw an old cookbook in a Trondheim bookshop and loved the jacket design but the shop was closed so I drew my own version.

Pen drawing showing the corner of a two storey yellow building with pan tile roof. It shows a large 3-D rabbit fashioned out of scrap plastic and metal and applied to the walls. Its ears reach the roof, it has huge bulbous eyes and long spikey whiskers.
Last of the Porto drawings, loved this huge scrap bunny down amongst the port cellars
