I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it β€œlessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Wouldn’t do it to save grandma, will do it to deport her. We see where your priorities lie.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the TaΓnos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

@motherjones.com had this one last week before it was top of the page @nytimes.com Those of us working on projects for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration have anticipated such a giant whitewash laden with grift. Everyone should read real history right now and support real historians.

never gave up their culture. Kilkenny People and Connaught Telegraph weekly along with 3 NY dailies, hurling and β€œthe Irish program” on the radio, Irish food they’d eaten all their lives along w/ new delights, almost all immigrant friends. None of this made them less-worthy as new Americans.

All part of the American tapestry! I don’t even understand the argument that today’s immigrants aren’t assimilating! When did they ever have to give up their own culture to embrace America’s as well? As a child of immigrants, the two didn’t compete. My parents loved their new American home, and…

I know it and I don’t need to go that far- my next town over is Pearl River, NY. Many immigrants: big GAA club nearby, aisles of Irish foods in the grocery store, trad music in the pubs, Irish coffee shop with brown bread and fry-ups. And why wouldn’t it be like that?

It’s frustrating that these people think they revere their family’s histories but don’t even bother to learn anything about what actually happened.

People really don’t know their history on this. A friend told me how different her Irish ancestors were from today’s immigrants as β€œthey loved America and assimilated as soon as they got here” - ignoring both how America didn’t love them and how much those immigrants changed America.

I think that’s the point as
- since when do we expect the French to show any righteousness in such matters? Our depravity has eclipsed theirs.

The Wright Museums Instagram page is HILARIOUS. Think The Office but it's the staff at a Museum for Black History. Better believe this is on my list of places to visit.

Organ rejection is one of the worst ways to die naturally (for some values of "natural"). Look it up at your own risk, or take my word for it, accept that they're torturing a man to death, & act accordingly.

"Sure, ICE is bad, but we need to deport illegal immigrants"

No you don't.

If immigration enforcement leads to concentration camps and roving death squads, maybe it's time to just get rid of the concept of illegal immigration entirely. You've tried it, it's a bad idea in practice, so bin it.
