“We are seeing profound mental illness stemming from excessive social media use…children who are disappearing into online worlds, who are unable to sleep, who are increasingly inattentive and impulsive, emotionally dysregulated and aggressive.”
If your goal this year is to read more books, remember:
you don’t have to finish every book you start. If you’re halfway through and can’t stand the characters or just don’t care what happens, it’s okay to put it down.
Life’s too short to read books you don’t love!

People who know me know I am huge @jonathancohn.bsky.social fan. Glad your brilliance is being elevated. Also same day voter registration we need it #mapoli shout-out @clbergpowers.bsky.social for screenshot

I love any activity that makes kids think of math visually and conceptually rather than just 'finding an answer'!
Notice and wonder is my favorite strategy!
I've created my first starter pack for all who have participated in #ElemMathChat here. I've also added a few of my favorite elementary math educators if you want to follow them, too. Here's the link: go.bsky.app/DtzfaoK
I just did a terrific interview for my new book with @jedlie.bsky.social for his amazing podcast Reading with your Kids. If you don't know it, check it out!!

A while back I curated some resources for supporting teachers on a black schedule.
Our biggest challenges were using the time effectively.
The pros were best experienced by teachers who decided to include differentiation time/small group.

Infographic showing how many scientists out of one hundred are female (three) or called Michael or Eric (ten).
My most liked X post, reposting here:
1 in 10 of the top 100 ‘best’ scientists are named Michael or Eric, but only 3% are female according to Research.com. Putting aside the obvious flaws of the H-index, these numbers are disheartening: research.com/scientists-r...

"Defiance must be woven into the fabric of our daily lives, rather than simply proclaimed at marches or on social media... many quiet acts of disobedience—like a healthcare worker’s refusal to aid in criminalizing a patient—have the potential to save lives and interrupt state violence."

On Fridays, I make sure my 3rd graders find joyful moments of learning. There's something to celebrating our learning by remembering the things we love...falling into a good book, collaborating, and problem solving
Fridays are for joy...and accountability.😉
This would be great for my #middleschool teams! I'd love to take a look.
I created a podcast series interviewing teachers in my building to promote recognition to teachers using tech in the classroom. I’m in love with this project. It’s only a 5 min or less episode, and I drop it in the principal’s newsletter every week. Here’s an example: bit.ly/ByteSizedTeaching3
