Wonderful to have The Boy from the Sea on the The British Book Award shortlist for the Book of the Year (debut fiction) award. We find out who has won on May 11th.
When I was writing The Boy from the Sea I found it very useful to realise, or to decide, that it was Historical Fiction. So it is great to see that the novel topping that particular chart on Amazon. Thank you to all the readers out there.

Ian McDonald has published plenty and was named a Grand Master of Science Fiction by the European Science Fiction Society in 2019, but, nonetheless, his latest was written while he was studying in the SHC with us and it is number 56 on my list. BOY, WITH ACCIDENTAL DINOSAUR is published by Tor.

Opening in half an hour, Shiro Masuyama’s Borderline Project. All welcome, Marie Heaney Square, beside the Seamus Heaney Centre, Belfast.
Tomorrow we'll have a visitor to the Seamus Heaney Centre; Japanese artist Shiro Masuyama will be bringing his Borderline Project Caravan. You can visit the caravan anytime from 11am in Marie Heaney Square (next to the SHC). Shiro will discuss it and some of his other work in the SHC at 3pm.
On Tuesday, a very special caravan is will be visiting the Heaney Centre, Belfast, for a day. All welcome.
