Yes! You might run into cards you haven't encountered before that might inspire you to try something new, and you may not get that from just reading up on whatever the current meta is online. Opening packs is all part of it, and greedy people are actually ruining that aspect.
Yeah, we mostly buy the singles we need for our decks online too. It's just easier. But it really does suck for the kids that don't get to feel that joy and excitement from pulling a special card. :/
We actually just checked our Target yesterday for MTG stuff. And of course the only thing there was sports cards.

Went out to work on a site this weekend with HAS. Didn't find anything exciting, but did find a bunch of stone flakes & fragments, which means lots of stone tool making happened nearby. Also found a toad.
