This stop also blocks views of the crosswalk. We witnessed two pedestrians trying to cross from north to south nearly get hit by drivers who couldn't see them. Perhaps it would be better to close this entire stop all together and only use the RM West & City Market stops due to the multiple issues.

The Downtown Neighborhood Association is fighting to do just this in Kansas City. We are using PIAC money to study the cost of conversion from 7-10th streets. It's very feasible and would end driver confusion and increase the safety on our streets for all users!
In the last two days Cops have been a contributing factor in the death of someone on our highways.
On Yesterday MHP used a TVI maneuver that caused a crash that killed the driver on I-35
Yesterday a man was hit by a driver on I-70 as he fled from the cops who were chasing him for a hit & run.

Questions will be asked if the TVI was the proper maneuver or if stop strips should be been used, or another method.

Wornall Road has been under construction for years, and residents say it's caused them a fair share of headaches and flat tires. Now there's a "road diet" plan to shrink the corridor from four lanes to two, with a center turn lane and reduced speed limits.

Also, please note, this is a protected bicycle lane, so exiting it to get around an illegally parked car requires a bit more care which means slowing down & losing momentum to safely exit. This puts riders in danger by joining existing cars traveling at 25+mph but the bike is at a much lower speed
For one, this is a two way cycle track, so a rider going in the opposite direction of this parked van has to exit into oncoming traffic.
Office Product Alliance illegally parking in a bike lane forcing a rider into car traffic makes Oak less safe for all road users, especially for users riding in the left lane of this two way cycle track. Riders have to exit the lane directly into oncoming traffic. This is very unsafe.
The KCATA and the funding sources for all public transit in the Kansas City region have lost the faith of the public. "Death Spiral" is a term used for Kansas City Metro's state of public transit, at the KC Metro Urbanists we are fighting to change the narrative.

Kansas City Public Works is holding a community open house event to discuss proposed safety improvements along Wornall Road, from 63rd Street to Gregory Boulevard. The open house will be held Wednesday, July 16, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM at HJ's Youth and Community Center (6425 Wornall Road).
"In the past ten years, there have been five fatal crashes, 33 crashes with serious injuries and 415 crashes with minor injuries in the area. Nearly 40% of fatal or serious crashes involved a pedestrian, according to city data."
Speed and Safety are two things that no road can accomplish at the same time. You must prioritize one or the other. This is a principle of road design that Kansas City struggles from the core of KCMO to Johnson County to Gladstone.

Most of the pedestrian fatalities this year has been people on the interstates in our city. We don't have an exact count at this time but we believe around 15 people have lost their lives by being hit while outside of cars on the Interstates. We are losing too many!

Our Vision Zero plan has been years in the making with a current 50% reduction in traffic fatalities over last year, but we risk losing all of those gains as hordes of unregistered, unlicensed, and often illegal vehicles flood our streets.
the short term solution appears to require much more enforcement of our basic laws for the betterment and safety of the entire community. This lawlessness on our streets has gone on long enough. Kansas City is one of the most dangerous cities to be a cyclist, pedestrian or user of a car in America.
KC4SafeStreets has been long been on the side that enforcement isn't always the best solution. While preventing behavior though infrastructure design, education and awareness is the best long term solution,
