Last week we celebrated the opening of Bay Ridge, a new neighborhood in Shelburne. We were joined by @welch.senate.gov, @balint.house.gov and Vermont Sen Majority leader Kesha Ram Hinsdale -- nearly 100 new permanently affordable homes in Shelburne, Vermont.

Thanks -- these programs do run statewide, just not at the scale our people and communities need.
State officials plan to direct more than 60% of the federal disaster aid — over $41 million — toward housing development.
The result is not ultimately about the workforce: it’ll mean more people hungry, more without access to health care, and more losing their housing. As dangerous, or more than, the bill congress just passed.
Another story on the loss of rental subsidy. The new budget proposal could make things even worse. www.sevendaysvt.com/news/housing...
The loss of housing vouchers will take us backwards. This is an awful individual story, but it's only the tip of the iceberg.

Just awful. Most signs point towards #nimby

Permanent supportive housing has become one of the most common approaches to reducing chronic homelessness for Americans with mental illness and addiction. Residents and workers at a complex in the Bronx shared what life is like inside these buildings. nyti.ms/42o9jyO
We are saddened by the news of the passing of Lois McClure, our longtime friend and steadfast supporter of CHT's work. We're thinking of her family this morning, and we're also thinking about how much she's done for Vermont.
Thank you, Lois.

For Afghan refugees in Vermont, homeownership can become reality with new program @vermontpublic.bsky.social www.vermontpublic.org/local-news/2...
Our friends at DEW Construction shared this photo of Bay Ridge under construction in Shelburne. Ultimately there will be 68 apartments and 26 condos, all permanently affordable.
As 2024 winds down we are hopeful, excited for the opportunity ahead, and have immense gratitude for our community.
This is wrong. Our state policy, effectively, is “go sleep outside” in December. And this is for people who *qualify* for the benefit.
"Are we really okay with our neighbors freezing to death in winter?"

This is great news. Congrats Rural Edge. vtdigger.org/2024/12/12/d...
Glad to have the opportunity to do this with such a critical community partner www.samessenger.com/news/voices-...
