it really is! however, i try to look on the bright side of the 10% of our regulars who actually just passionately love music and come back week after week open to discovering new artists and things they've never heard. they make it all worth it. but some days!!!

this isn't even from a pretentious standpoint of looking down on music that is popular - i enjoy a lot of it too! it's just a bummer that people really have no interest in even flipping through, reading our notes/reviews, asking questions, and generally trying out anything even vaguely new to them.

as someone who sets up our shop with every intention to make it easy for people to explore new music at this point it feels like someone is hitting me in the head with a hammer every time they walk in and ask if we have The Beatles, The Doors, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. then leave when i say no lol

it is absolutely wild to me how many people come into a record store with absolutely no interest in discovering new music
