Right?! WTF are the DNC strategists doing besides having PACs send fundraising texts?!

They need to work on hammering one very clear message 24/7/365 on every available platform that the current regime is making *everything* more expensive and that the Dems’ plans will be better.

I was literally watching the birds in my yard this morning and thinking about this. Thank you for the excellent explanation and illustration!

Western sandpiper on the beach. The snap bird is walking toward the camera and her head is turned to the right, away from the sunlight coming from the left. The underparts of the sandpiper are white; the upper parts (including the crown) are sandy brown; and the eyes, beak, and legs are black. The sun reflects in the bird’s eye, which is partly in shadow, giving a rather dramatic look to a bird not normally thought of as dramatic.

The thumbnail of the article mentions β€œbroadening horizons”, which is exactly what people leaving the platform-that-must-not-be named are looking for at BlueSky.

I want to see animals videos, astronomy, photographers, history snippets, musicians. I want to read your stories about your family. And yes, I want to see a picture of your dinner!

I do *not* want to engage with angry, bitter trolls who are not trying to engage in good faith. This isn’t a mystery.

What they don’t seem to address is that many people use social media for other reasons, especially for entertainment and escape from politics. If a platform becomes increasingly politically charged and users are being attacked by randos then there should be no surprise when people leave.

The article you linked is paywalled but from the headline, it seems that their premise is that people engage with social media primarily for political debate. Other similar articles criticizing Threads, BlueSky, etc. are focusing on the same idea…that they are β€œa liberal echo chamber”.

Labeled β€œartist’s concept” at bottom right, the graphic shows a closeup of a dwarf galaxy, which appears roughly circular with a light yellow bar in the center. Faint, blue, wispy, cloud-like features surround this yellow bar, and they are sprinkled with tiny white specks. A wide, wispy, purple arc appears to the left of the galaxy. Trailing the galaxy is a large, faint, wide, tail-like feature.

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is one of the Milky Way galaxy's nearest neighbors. This dwarf galaxy looms large on the southern nighttime sky at 20 times the apparent diameter of the full Moon. And it survived a crash with our galaxy’s halo. (1/6)

Scientists discover world’s largest coralβ€”so big it can be seen from space Exclusive photos reveal a sprawling, 300-year-old coral near Solomon Islands, recently discovered by the National Geographic Society’s Pristine Seas expedition team.

Move over, blue whale. This 300+ year old 34m coral is now the largest animal* known. Hopefully its depth, as described, can keep it going πŸ¦‘πŸ§ͺ

Anyone you see on your timeline right now praising RFK Jr. is a person you never need to take seriously on anything ever again.

It is difficult to overstate just how extreme, conspiratorial, and insane RFK’s views are, on vaccines, microchips & beyond. He’s Alex Jones in a suit.

The background of space is black. Thousands of galaxies appear all across the view. Their shapes and colors vary. Some are various shades of orange, others are white. Most stars appear blue, and are sometimes as large as more distant galaxies that appear next to them. A very bright star is just above and left of center. It has eight bright blue, long diffraction spikes. Between 4 o’clock and 6 o’clock in its spikes are several very bright galaxies. A group of three are in the middle, and two are closer to 4 o’clock. These galaxies are part of the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723, and they are warping the appearances of galaxies seen around them. Long orange arcs appear at left and right toward the center.

A circular-shaped nebula with a complex structure. On the circle’s exterior, particularly on the left side of the image, are curtains of material glowing orange like fire. Interior to this outer shell is a ring of mottled filaments in bright pink, studded with clumps and knots. A greenish loop extends from the upper right of the ring into the central cavity. Translucent wisps of blue, green, and red appear throughout the image.

The star cluster Pismis 24 lies within the much larger emission nebula called NGC 6357, located about 8,000 light-years from Earth. The cluster is seen here above a small portion of the nebula. The gas below the stars glows through ionization caused by intense ultraviolet radiation from the massive young stars within the cluster. The strong radiation and stellar winds from from these blazing, blue-white stars also pushes the nebular material outward, creating one of many low-density bubbles within NGC 6357.

Kingfishers are the same everywhere. They see you coming and laugh as they fly away. This male Ringed Kingfisher was nice enough to pause for a second and strike a jaunty pose.

It boils down to legal wrangling, judge shopping, and the courts (especially SCOTUS) being packed with highly partisan judges.
