Also getting my theatre fix with a Jeremy Jordan concert, Some Like It Hot, and a new queer version of Cyrano!
Also getting my theatre fix with a Jeremy Jordan concert, Some Like It Hot, and a new queer version of Cyrano!
Popping down to Toronto next week and I'm hoping to stop by and check this exhibit out!
Wow! Looks so yummy!
Tumblr version to follow tomorrow, but I wanted to get something up last minute before the end of February as it's been too long since I posted!
I have a new post up on my blog outlining my genealogy research on Abraham Seely, an AB aboard HMS Erebus during the Franklin expedition.

I was hoping to go to a conference in the UK this year (work related, not genealogy) but that doesnβt seem like itβs happening, so now Iβm wondering if instead I can find a NWP tour for my vacation time π
Day 9 - Dual moguls were endlessly entertaining. Watched pairs figure skating and planned to watch slopestyle qualis but didnβt have time. Not much progress on the sweater, just doing short rows.
Day 8 - Entertaining short track chaos, even though Canada lost medal(s) to it! Cast on my sweater and knit the neck.
Woke up at 3:30am to watch men's dual moguls and dear lord was that worth it! Such a exciting and chaotic event!
But she also thinks it's silly to be outraged by them swearing, because she thinks short trackers and other athletes are probably dropping some choice words, but curlers are mic'd up and so held to a different standard.
But she's mad about his response and looking like a "dickwad" on the world stage while representing Canada, and says she's never liked this team and they've been "egotistical asshats" for years lol
Sometimes you'll see her with one game on the TV, another on her iPad, and another on her phone lmao. Her take on #boopgate is that pointing is just his delivery style and it wouldn't actually affect anything, given how heavy the rocks are.
My mother is obsessed with curling to the point that she can name like every competitive Canadian curler, and also their spouses and children, which is not creepy at all. She watches like every event local and international with a Canadian in it.
I am forever thankful for CBC's excellent Olympic coverage and all their dedicated streams for different sports
Text message: Canβt wait to watch Gogolev come from nowhere and win gold after an asteroid falls on the last flight and destroys the competition
I was texting shortly before turning skating on and it was honestly not even that far off from what happened
There is an alternate universe out there where Gogo got 1.3 points more in his short and won bronze out of nowhere and how hysterical would that have been
Day 7: No knitting at all today, because I could not look away from the insanity of the men's free skate π± Canadian Gogolev out of nowhere got FIFTH???? He was less than two points off the podium!!! He got the second most points in the free?!?! He ranked higher than the quad god?!!!? Chaos
Finished my sock and knit a swatch to measure gauge on my sweater.
Day 3 - 6: Didn't have too much time on my Olympics watching. Highlights were Snowboard cross (the best sport), short track (I always forget how fun it is to watch) and moguls (why do people do this to their knees). Ice Dance is corrupt as hell but Piper & Paul were beautiful to watch.
π«π«π«
Day 2 - Not much watching or knitting today. Watched the team skate and continued on the gusset.
This Italian skating team is so exited they got me tearing up lol
The ITA & CAN speed skating matchup was a thrill! As was Gogolevβs skate. Cast on my sock stitches and got up to the gusset.
Day 1: Not too much today! Caught up on the team skate from Day 0, men's big air, women's 3000m speed skating, and part of the team skate day 1. The X games style sports are so fun because all the competitors seem like friends, and I love Craig McMorris's commentary.
Iβm planting myself in front of the TV for the next two weeks for the Olympics! I like to keep my hands busy so my goal is to finish a sock (already have the first of a pair done) and most if not all of a cardigan!
Very excited to announce my talk at the @rgsibg.bsky.social !! 27 April, both in person and online. π₯³ #NavalHistory

YOLO I'm going to Nova Scotia!
Plans still pending but I'm definitely going to hit up the archives and the Randall house museum for some Best family history. It turns out my sister is talking at a conference in May so we're planning to link up and do Cape Breton together, which should be fun!
Mark's a Saskatchewan boy and his brother does commentary on his Olympics events, we're very fond of them here
This has been an extremely difficult start to the Olympics for Canada.
First Deanna Stellato-Dudek injured in a training accident.
And now Mark McMorris taken off of mountain in a stretch tonight after a training crash.
π±
No! Such a terrible start to these Olympics
