Take just a bit of it, and decarbonize the US -- EV cars, EV planes, electrify more rail lines, EV semis, heat pumps, so many things those billions would buy, and make future wars for oil nonexistent.
Congress failed to pass the War Powers Resolution, leaving the door open for a prolonged war with Iran.
Now Washington is already floating billions more in military spending.
Democratic leadership needs to decide: are you funding this war, or will you oppose it at every turn?

Democrats who voted for war should lose their job. Greg Landsman (OH-1) has a primary opponent that deserves support.
I donated. I hope you will too.
Huge congratulations to TerraPower. Consistent, steady engagement with the regulator has paid off with this milestone achievement in the process. We can now say the US is officially building a commercial advanced nuclear reactor right now.
Professor/commodities regulator on one side, refrigeration tech in the other.
US health officials are trying to delay a regional World Health Organization meeting that would confirm the loss of its measles elimination status until after the midterm elections in November.
This is a reckless, accountability-dodging move that puts politics over public health.
Absolutely. I grew up driving a stick, and one pedal just makes sense. Even better, in a proper EV, it can get you to a full stop. Now in a stick, I'd forget to push in the clutch!
What about driving a stick? Taking your foot of the accelerator in a car with a manual transmission acts just like in an EV. I grew up driving a stick, so one pedal driving was absolutely natural. I use it driving Uber, my passengers and my passengers compliment the smoothness.
And having it on notebook paper is just the extra touch π
Trump just heard the idea of "Escort Service" and jumped at it.
Dude, just give it up. Declan is really, really, really out of your league. Your ignorance is not equivalent to his knowledge.
Canada should be a good test of how well Chinese cars will sell in north America. Heck, they seem to be selling well in Mexico already.
I distinctly remember hating it, and I was only 8. Who wants to go to school in the dark??
Can't wait for more people to come to the realization that permanent DST sucks.
Thank you!

This is eugenics. Genocide. An attack on science, medical ethics, bodily autonomy, and human rights.
Where is the outcry from the biomedical community? Trans people aren't just abstract patients and research participants: We're your friends, family, and co-workers.
Speak up before it's too late
Dearest people who donβt read or remember history:
The reason Iran is ruled by Ayatollahs now is because the U.S. overthrew the democratically-elected Iranian President in 1953 to help American oil interests.
Boro-silicate glass -- ahh "pyrex". At least it used to be, before they took the boron out and kept the trademark!
I haven't seen this circulating on Bluesky yet- vetted GoFundMe for the family of Nurul Amin Shah Alam, the Rohingya refugee who was killed by CBP and state violence in Buffalo. Funds will help with immediate expenses and to reunite with their sons. Donate and share.

This reminds me of that Frankie Boyle joke about how Americans not only come to your country and kill your people, they also come back twenty years later to make a movie about how killing your people made their soldiers sad.
Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time." Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed. That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.
From Hunter S. Thompsonβs ESPN page 2 column one week after 9/11.
If you have the means, please donate to the Trans Continental Pipeline right now. They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate and they are overwhelmed with requests. Colorado borders Kansas, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.

the party that wants to require ID to vote abruptly invalidating a thousand peopleβs IDs overnight seems like a pretty giant flashing red light
Now if only you'd protect the trans kids like you said you would.
