There is a legal provision in immigration law that someone married to a US citizen can stay in the US while there visa is pending. Immigration officials have long recognized it to allow residency during the wait time. The DHS has just stopped following this part of the law.
NEW: When anti-ICE protesters disrupted a church service, the Trump administration vowed to stop at nothing to protect religious liberty.
But congregations across the country who welcome immigrants say ICE has been violating their rights on a mass scale.

this is why it's imperative to make the whole project politically toxic. cut off the money, and you cut off the camps. so imo we should work to end this before 2029 by pushing back on facilities wherever possible. detention camps have their own gravitational and financial pull on society and warp it
"If the only way to identify concentration camps and name them, if the qualifying criteria must be that they have already lain at the heart of a genocide, what good are these conversations at all? Are we really honoring the memory of the dead by sacrificing the living?"
There are ~90 million people alive today because of USAID. Russ Vought illegally shut it down and now is spending the money on himself. These are deeply evil people. www.reuters.com/world/us/whi...
If you can’t police in a free society without hiding your face, the problem is with the policing — not the public. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-mask...
Here's what DHS doesn't want you to know: Working for ICE is one of the safest jobs in America — and last year was the second-safest year for the agency on record.
And the doxxing? It hasn't actually happened even once.
The masks are justified by a lie. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-mask...
The conditions in detention centres are beyond horrific. No human should be treated like this.
Seamus Culleton, who is held in a Texas detention centre, said: "It's like a modern day concentration camp."
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.
If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...
A child’s illustration, made in what appears to be crayon, of more than a dozen figures standing together. It’s titled “Mi Familia” and credited to “Luisanney Toloza, 5 años.”
4/ “Mi Familia,” by 5-year-old Luisanney Toloza from Venezuela, who had recently crossed the U.S.-Mexico border
Today @cato.org published our report providing the first look at the fiscal effects of the wave of legal & illegal immigration over the last 3 decades. It shows immigrants created surpluses every year, by a combined $14.5 trillion, even as deficits grew www.cato.org/white-paper/...
We don't talk enough about what a miracle of modern democracy Indivisible is.
The country is furious about what's going on. 86% of Ds and 47% of independents nationwide support *abolishing* ICE. He should offer a vision of how ICE & CBP can be fundamentally diminished or dismantled, even if he can't do it today. Creating a road map generates pressure and possibilities. [2/4]

"For much of the 2010s and likely before and since, it appears the crime rate of CBP agents and offices was higher PER CAPITA than the crime rate of undocumented immigrants in the United States."
"Criminality is so rampant inside CBP that it has seen one of its own agents or officers arrested every 24 to 36 hours since 2005...
"Over the 20 years from 2005 to 2024 — the last year numbers are available — at least 4,913 CBP officers and Border Patrol agents have been arrested themselves"
In awe of all the everyday people who are saving the country.
A representative for one of the largest, the New York State Common Retirement Fund, said it had not been aware of Omni's role in deportation flights but had "contacted Stonepeak to seek additional information and under stand how these serious issues are being addressed."
So here's the rub: Dozens of Stonepeak's investors are public-employee retirement funds, including many in blue states. And the human rights abuses happening on Omni's ICE flights would probably violate a lot of their ESG policies -- IF THEY KNEW ABOUT THEM.
"People are fighting and being assaulted and even murdered on their streets for the First Amendment, the Second Amendment, the 14th Amendment … This is a clawing back of the Constitution, amendment by amendment, on the streets, and by the people."
It’s really difficult & disorienting but the feds hit LA extremely hard today. There were kidnappings all over & reported cluster raids in Chinatown, East LA, Ktown. This list shows to 1130 AM but they haven’t stopped all day
Just because the media attention stopped doesn’t mean the abductions have
But Trump knows all this has gotten away from him. He knows ethnonationalists like Miller/Vance, who despise pro-immigration America and thus smeared the victims, badly miscalculated. He knows the popular passions unleashed here can't be manipulated. He's afraid 5/5

ICE is changing tactics in Maine: "Now, the volunteers in Maine say federal agents have started showing up at their homes and intimidating them or threatening arrest. Some of them, masked and wearing tactical gear, have issued stark warnings not to follow them." www.pressherald.com/2026/01/23/i...
Everything they learned in Minnesota they’re applying in Maine from day one. They started off doing fast-moving snatch and grabs on the street, recording and using facial id on observers, and threatening observers directly. They’ll do it all where you live too.
This whole thread. What you're seeing from Minnesota is just the tip of the iceberg *of what DHS is doing in Minnesota*!
They believe they are keeping down an insurrection by bloodying observers in the streets. The idea of a massive self-organizing resistance that is about care and not confrontation is beyond them. That is why they will lose.
With Rosen, Cortez Masto, and Warner all now No’s on cloture on DHS Approps, the filibuster will get above 40 (I assume they’ll get pretty much every Dem senator). The question then will be what the Dems demand to let it go forward. Get ICE and CBP out of MN is the easiest message. It’s also right.
